Have to agree with Mr Pivote on this. There is so much flapping going on right now. We have spent nothing for 6 years and we spent a little bit in the summer. This is going to take a while. Let’s enjoy the fact that we are not in trouble for once, desperately looking at Burnley’s results every week.

I think people are right to be annoyed. My take on it (and my family who are all Blues, and mates all have the same view, more or less, as me) is that we do not expect to miraculously fly into CL contention overnight. Of course we don't.
But the frustration comes from three areas:
1) We can see that the league is unusually low quality and congested this year, so we have an unexpected opportunity that we want to try and see us grasp. We have tended to have our best seasons when the competition is unusually good - e.g. 06-10 and Martinez's first season. We just want to see us go for it and be proactive.
2) We have yet again failed to address key areas. We have needed a new RB for about 8 years and a better LB for several. Had we have improved in these areas, we might still not reach our goal, but it doesn't look like abject recruitment. Likewise, if we had a 3rd striker, Beto and Barry might still have their struggles, but it would feel like we at least have some options. It makes us frustrated and makes us appear totally amateur. I don’t think any other established PL club would do that.
3) For all the positives
Moyes has brought, he has shot himself in the foot on several occasions and cost us points needlessly.
If you add those up, they are 3 particularly frustrating ways of falling short of your goals, and very amateur ones at that. I feel that we have improved a lot since
Moyes came in and, for the most part, I enjoy watching us again, when I absolutely hated watching us under Dyche. Don't get me wrong, we are still honking sometimes and very inconsistent, but overall I enjoy watching us again. It is for this reason that, despite the fact I am not his biggest fan, I don't think Moyes should lose his job like some do.
However, there is so much easily achievable room for further improvements that other clubs would take if in our current situation. THAT is what is frustrating so many in my opinion. It is an opportunity to tell us as fans, and the world that we are a new Everton, but we seem to be operating like we always have. It would not take splashing out £100m in Jan to give us a realistic chance of getting in the Conference League.
