January Transfer Window 2026

In all honesty we shouldn't of hired Ancelotti as he was completely the wrong fit for us. We should of had a long term vision and employed a manager like Arteta who if I'm not mistaken we had talks with before hiring Ancelotti. I remember at the time it looked like we got the better end of the deal getting Ancelotti whilst Arsenal got Arteta but who's laughing now?
Arteta has been rewarded with 5yrs backing and patience from the board, a good spend and a massive appeal.

Arteta has built a cracking squad, so don't anything away from that.
But he was awarded that time to build it..

Midtable finishes are Midtable finishes. No one cares if you come 10th 11th or 12th

There's no excitement left for supporters and there's no meaningful football left. It's am embarassment and sums up why we are consistently an irrelevant club

They don't even have the ambition to build a functioning squad with enough players in the right positions. Why should supporters get excited about the rest of the season?
I'd rather finish 10th than 12th.

The higher up we finish, the better. It's more money and provides a platform going forwards

If arteta would have been remotely successful at everton, he would have done the same as ancelotti the minute arsenal came calling. So he was never a long term option.
Agreed…also there is a big difference in being successful at Arsenal vs being successful at us, that difference being how much more attractive they are as a club, and how much more he has spent to reshape that squad. Not remotely in the same ball park as us.

Some of our fans have forgot that "Field of Dreams" was just a film..
Yeah I never understood why supporters thought getting a new stadium was going to be an immediate game changer. Not high up in the list of considerations of a footballer imo. It should be a game changer over time as long as 1) there is a corresponding plan to driver ther commercial income and 2) there is an appropriate footballing structure at the club and 3) we have competent people filling those roles within the structure

I'm desperate for us to bring almost anyone in for FB, but let's be clear, he isn't a proper RB (also agree with the comments that he seems a bit of a 🔔). He's really a centre back and it would be like a better version of playing JOB there.

It really should be Holm. Suits what Moyes wants, but also what we need, is a good enough player to increase in value and be played under future managers if they want a progressive style. Is also versatile - has played in midfield loads of times and even filled in a LB a handful of times and done okay. Worth investing money in. Ultimately, we will need more than one RB come the summer, so if we get him and find a better one then, so be it. Competition for places.

Even Norton-Cuffy would be okay and could play in front of JOB if Moyes is having one of his uber defensive games.

LB is harder. Off the top of my head, I'm not sure who is out there who we could get, but there must be some.

But get off your arses Angus and co. we must bring in some players ASAP!

Possibly. It depends on many factors. It's a pointless hypothetical debate as you may be right but we'll never know for sure

Arteta has spent billions that’s the difference. The horrible petulant idiot isn’t in the same league as ancelotti. Never will be.
That's not the argument, the argument is Arteta would of in theory looked at us as a longterm project and recruited with that in mind whilst Ancelotti saw us as a must win now project and lumbered us with ageing Allan, talented but dubious commitment James Rodriguez and Doucoure though Doucoure wasn't his suggestion according to rumour. It was a very short-term approach by Carlo (he also didn't want to develop the youth like Gordon either) so as soon as the wheels started falling off we ended up in a worse state

My argument exactly. We need to identify a young coach who plays front foot high intensity football who also likes developing youth players as that's our best chance of progressing as a football club. I think as a fanbase we could get behind that even if results are inconsistent at first because we can see a tangible plan for progression. At the moment we're just making up the numbers and showing no ambition or forward thinking beyond getting 40 points and premier league survival. I think we should be aiming higher than that

Day 11 of the window. No one is linking us with anyone.

Day 11 of the window. We don’t like the players we are being linked with.

Day 11 of the window. There’s no way that the players we are being linked with are real links.
