first of all, very one-sided perspective. second of all, nutters because it seems completely mad to me to be so emotionally tied up in and wasting so much mental bandwith on a an issue one has absolutely no influence on and which is obviously only making you miserable.

Miserable? Exposing the truths makes me very happy! There have been many misinformed posters on here who thought this started on October 7th and it was the people of Palestine’s fault - they soon learn otherwise.

You seem to care enough to post in this thread multiple times. Are you simping for Israel because you feel guilty for the way your country treated Jewish people in the 30s and 40s? If so there's no need to.
You'd be better off educating yourself on the way Palestinians have been treated over the last 80 odd years and maybe try to develop some empathy for those living in an apartheid regime.
Or you could bow out of the thread if you genuinely lack the humanity to empathise and let the more serious people discuss the outrageous actions of a rogue state.

First of all, I'm well aware this did not start on October 7. The entire thing is still not as one-sided as you paint it. You seem to interpret this as me saying Palestine bad, Israel good. Very thin line that.
Second of all, I did not call the conflict little.
Yes, fewer people would be wasting their time on this.
People with this much (publically displayed) empathy for people this far away are in my experience often people with very little empathy for those actually within their lives.
But yeah, if it does indeed not make you miserable as the other bloke stated, have your uber-moral circle jerk in peace

I’m guessing you have little experience then if that’s your hot take. In my experience people who are able to empathise with others far away are much more likely to be empathetic and caring towards those they’re close to.
Whereas those who refer to people who care as members of an ‘uber moral circle jerk’ are much more likely to be at worst psychopaths and at best deeply unlikeable.
It’s not wasted time, that’s the point! Every person educated is a positive.

This is a criticism often made but it does ignore the very real local problems that this crisis has highlighted, of which the most significant is why the international system our ancestors set up at such vast cost to themselves is being sacrificed for another, non-allied country’s interests.
There is no evidence that this is with the consent of the public, and even less that this sacrifice would ever be repaid or reciprocated or even that we would reciprocate help from them if things go south.
What it implies about the nature of our government is horrifying as well, if you think about it. Everything required to fix our country - reducing inequality, improving scrutiny of public spending and cutting waste, helping deal with the climate crisis, dealing with the breakdown in social cohesion and preventing people who are fermenting disorder on our streets is too hard to deal with but leaping to the defence of a regime that has murdered 12000 children, serially invades its neighbours and has killed more UK citizens than Hamas has is done out of reflex. Why is this?
It isn’t because of decency, and it certainly isn’t because of ancient antisemitic libels about Jews controlling the world (the destruction by the Israeli state of the Jewish community here by encouraging Aliyah is never criticized); it is because we have multiple people in our politics who for one reason or another are not as focused on our welfare as they should be.

I'm projecting my own bad personal experiences on you all which is not fair.
In truth, you all might well be very decent people who are also just mentally stronger than I am. I really do not have the mental bandwith to concern myself with these issues and be mentally well at the same time. I really hope this does not make me a psychopath as one of you implied.
