I wish I had your optimism
I don't think it needs optimism. It is increasingly looking like we have a few things coming together that will probably result in the lobby being less effective than it has been at any point in the past twenty years:
i) both candidates for President have reasons to dislike Netanyahu personally (Harris because of how he has acted now, Trump because of his ungratefulness in the past and the fact he is a loser)
ii) Israel is not clearly winning the war even with massive amounts of help
iii) there is a very strong suspicion that Israel is trying to force the US into intervening in a war its government and population clearly does not want to intervene in;
iv) the lobby has stopped trying to promote the positive impact of US-Israeli relations and is openly using force to remove politicians it doesnt like. Aside from fear there is no reason to back them;
v) despite increasing amounts of spin and PR the failure of policy is becoming impossible to ignore (and the PR is frankly laughable)
vi) US politicians are being openly ignored, or at best only listened to when the Israelis want to even when they are right and had strong pro-Israel records
viii) for the first time in my lifetime there are significant numbers of US voters who are anti-Israeli and these are across the political spectrum
ix) most of the rest of the West have populations (if not for the moment politicians) who are at best ambivalent to whats going on and increasingly are against what the Israeli government is doing
x) all alternative Israeli political leaders are being attacked by the current Israeli leadership, so there isn't an alternative to deal with
Once people start asking why are we doing this its over, there are no good reasons left to back what is being done in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Iran and anywhere else.
