It appears to me as though both of you feel the retaliation from Israel should be "proportionate" to the murder, rape and kidnap on Oct 7th.
Further to this, the displacement of tens of thousands of innocent civilians in Northern Israel with a number of deaths from thousands of rockets, including children. Any retaliation by Israel should be "proportionate".
No. "Proportionate" is absolute madness to me. "Proportionate" doesnt even enter the vocabulary of Hamas or Hezbollah.

How does that even work anyway? For every kidnapped Israeli Hamas always demands thousands in return.
Absolutely not. "Proportionate" for me means...you are allowing these awful instances to continue and the terror groups can throw lives away as if its nothing...they believe in martyring themselves.
Give them what they want...eradicate them.
Attack innocent Israelis and Israel will eradicate you and your terror group.

Oh God, it goes back further than that. Arabs massacred quite a lot of Jews between 1920 and 1939 before the Jews started catching up and overtaking their numbers in spades. Nobody wins by playing tit-for-tat. It's all an abhorrent waste of life.

I was referring specifically to the time since Israel was formed but you are right. The animosity goes much further back, to Biblical times in fact.
Generally the discussion is around the situation since the creation of Israel was forced upon the inhabitants of Palestine. "Palestine saw its longest period of peace during the 401 years of Ottoman rule, from the conquest of Jerusalem in 1516 to the dawn of the British Mandate in 1917"
Most moderate people see what has happened in the 80 years since Nakba of 1948 as a huge injustice and breaks international law on a daily basis. The Palestinians are not at all perfect but they are, without doubt, the victims here.

TBF to Moron, compared to nearly all the mainstream journalists he has consistently tried to get people like Hasan, Bassem Youssef, Husam Zomlot and others on there and challenged them with what other people have been saying. He has done the same sort of “acting as the other side” with many pro-Israeli spokespeople too and it isnt so much him being destroyed as it is the arguments used.
I still can’t stand him mind, but on this issue at least he has given people a platform that hasn’t been offered by many others.
He has but for most of his early interviews he just shouted “do you condemn the October 7th attacks “ then talked over them.
I do agree though that he’s offered a space for dissenting voices however it shows how low the bar is .

There are a lot of people who have changed their view since 7 Oct who you might not expect at the time tbh, including Andrew Tate. And you can see why, what (actually) happened on that day was terrible and that shouldn't be forgotten.
Most who haven't got a religious, geo-political, financial reason are probably moving away from Israeli side. After that all you really have are the edge lords or people who want to be one, but are actually too thick or thinly veiled to be one (@Zatara )
