Last paragraph: pie in the sky I'm afraid.

Anyone expecting the EU and US to carve in to global south condemnation are kidding themselves.

No, Hezbollah have been talking a good game but they're sitting on an arsenal they don't intend to use.

The Gazan's are on their own. As per usual.
In his speech Nasrallah said, they were not aware of the military campaign into occupied Palestine. But said, their part in the war started on the 8th. There is no single leadership in the resistance movement, but have one goal helping end the colonial occupation of Palestine. Which brings benefite to Lebanon.

They launched some missiles, they'd be fools to launch all their 40 000-100 00 all at once. What he said is, by this action they are pinning down one third of the IDF. And the settlers are leaving the area close secto the border. A deoccupation. It's now a military zone and Hezbollah are picking off the IDF and it's military equipment with great success. This is undoubtedly assisting Gazans because the full weight of the IDF is not reining down on them. They are also losing soldiers.

Equally, he said the Iraqi resistance are attacking US based in Iraq and Syria. Something the US Empire is keen to downplay.

Hezbollah were always the ones Netanyahu feared. They are battled harded from the routing of US supported Nusra Front and other ISIS types in Syria
And they sit on a mountain of up to date weaponry. They're in for the long game.

You know they are not getting out though, right?! You know that there are already 10,000 dead and countless buildings levelled? Sorry, you sound like Pete here with your "what about hamas" waffle I am afraid.
That is disappointing to read. I can see that you are heavily emotionally invested in this but maybe try and step back. You cannot ignore Hamas or what they did and what they hope to achieve. You cannot ignore Israel what they have just suffered and most importantly how they are currently acting and likely to do. Maps and previous decades et al won't help, as frustrating as that might read. We are in the here and now and the current situation. It looks like Israel is committed to destroying Hamas and Hamas the same as Israel. The civilians need to be removed from this. If that sounds like Pete then Pete is correct and it is certainly not waffle.

That's nothing like a second front opening up against the apartheid state.

Do the people of Gaza look like they're getting any benefit from Hezbollah pinning down Israeli in the north?

Those people are getting wiped out while all the talk of greater support comes to nothing. Hezbollah are looking at the Med and those US warships and have swerved greater involvement. There's no dressing that up.

There will be no more Palestinian workers from Gaza.

Before this month, 18,500 married men over the age of 25 had permission from the Israeli authorities to enter the country, mostly to work in agriculture and construction, as part of an Israeli policy designed to alleviate Gaza’s crushing poverty and create an economic lifeline that it was believed Hamas would be loth to jeopardise.

An unknown number of these workers were swept up in raids across Israel in the days after 7 October and imprisoned under the principle of administrative detention, which allows the arrest of suspects without charge or access to the evidence against them on the grounds that they may break the law in future.

Many have alleged they were tortured or otherwise mistreated in military prison facilities over the last few weeks. The International Committee of the Red Cross said it was repeatedly denied access to the arrested workers, who were held as “enemy non-combatants”.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) did not immediately reply to the Guardian’s request for comment on the arrests or ill-treatment allegations.
I think the Israelis are frightened they'll have an army of people who may start disrupting or attacking police/military/settlers. The police/ IDF will be keeping a very close eye on Palestinian Arabs, as well. But it also serves the purpose of rounding up Palestinians and pushing them into Gaza to add to the demand for scarse resources. That said, it doesn't look good herding people into a ghetto type space. But there hatred of Palestinians is so heightened that they simply don't see any irony.

They'll eventually push much of that population into the Sinai Peninsula. They have no intention of leaving Gaza. The north of Gaza will be declared part of Israel.

It’s a special day, one long in all of our memories, they can do what they like any day of the year, doing it specifically on Remembrance Day is an insult, a stupid insult that will go against them. This will not win hearts and minds and instead of the media focusing on Remembrance it will be about these pillocks and whoever turns up to protest against them. Pure stupidity…..
I think you're being over emotive for the sake of scoring a point.
I've worked many a remembrance day in amongst the great and good (sic), civic and military. To a man, or woman, all the old servicemen I spoke with, who told me tales of the Somme and Dunkirk, kept quiet reflection on the horrors of war, and you could see that in their faces. They spoke about freedom from oppression, why they fought for a just cause against the nazis, and how they never wanted to see the same hatred for people that the nazis showed.
And yet, here we are, watching it live on the telly. By 'Israelis'.
I think those who fought in the last world war would understand and support anything to quell a repeat of what they went through.

A second front is a tactic to divert/attention away from somewhere else
Split the forces you are opposing. During the second world war there were constant calls for a second front to open to relieve pressure on the Soviet Union.
The only thing that will help those in Gaza is to defeat the IDF. As at the moment the international community is doing nothing to stop the attacks on Gazans. Opening a second front from Lebanon and attacking US based will put doubts in the minds of the US. They are very worried about an escalation at this moment, which is happening. Hence, their call for humanitarian aid to go on.

Yes, exactly.

But that second front is not appearing. Hezbollah and the IDF are just fencing in northern Israel / southern Lebanon.

Exactly. It's a land grab. Gaza will be part of occupied lands. That's what they are hoping but they have to defeat Hamas first. Which may be a long haul. They may well have to go down the tunnels. Or find another way to flush them out.

Yes. But the fencing is a type of second front. It will blow hot and coldish depending on how they read the situation in Gaza and the world. It will be interesting to see how much determination, those that have been brought back into the IDF, have.

Sinn Féin President and leader of the Party in the Republic has said the position of the Israeli ambassador is now untenable.

As posted previously Israel exports an estimated €5Bn to Ireland in 2022, whereas we exported something like €2 Bn.

Can't see it happening though and Deputy Taoiseach has ruled it out - we can have diplomatic relations without agreeing with a country's policies - Russia springs to mind. Their ambassador also made threatening noises a couple of months ago.

I dont think it would achieve anything, in reality we have a number of Irish citizens stuck in Gaza and we need embassy help in getting them out.

It was a month ago, they should just forget about it now like the Palestinians should forget everything they've suffered in the past according to the Israeli cheerleaders
