To be honest mate, I've got no answers to this unholy mess.

I do, however, think steamrolling a heavily populated area and killing a lot of innocents is problematic on many levels. Not least because there's a strong chance you radicalise a fresh generation of desperate people.

But let me turn it around, what would you do? Because the implication of your question, as I've said earlier in this thread, is that the status quo is okay.

Now, I know full well you're against senseless deaths and the horrible horrible cycle of violence, so I rather suspect you'd prefer a peaceful resolution if possible.

So, imagine you are Israel. 1400 innocent people are murdered and another 200 taken as hostages. What do you do ? Say well never mind it’s just Hamas, maybe get a little upset or decide to do something. Now no bullshit guys, if you were in Israel what would you demand happened….please, no history, no whataboutery, just say what in that instance what would you want done……

As an extremely well funded high tech military I would be looking to send in small commando units to take out the perpetrators, knowing full well that this battle would be played out in the media and online by force of opinion. Certainly keeping 'collateral damage' to an absolute minimum and maintaining a moral purpose. And this only to be politically expeditious.
However, I am not Israel, I am not the birthchild of a bloodcult religion with no concern for those it considers second class or as 'animals'. I am not playing out a scene of the end times to keep my American backers happy, financially and religiously.
And that is what is on show. Immorality masquerading as 'retaliation'.

I would. But I would still eliminate Hamas. The vast majority of Palestinians would like to live their lives without fear. I would set up a Palestinian state without Hamas I would however execute every Hamas leader based in Qatar, Turkey or wherever. I would also pour agents into Gaza and eliminate everyone who took part in the terrorist activities. No big show, no bombing, just do it over time but let everyone know, you do this but you die…..

Not quite. Some I agree with, the blood cult religion bit if you are applying this to ordinary Israelis as opposed to Hamas I would take disagreement with…

Yeah, it does appear to be missed that the leaders of Hamas are sitting pretty, well out of it. No surprises.

Unfortunately, whilst what you suggest is far preferable (if not ideal), it's really out of our control. I just don't see this Israeli Govt doing anything other than a George W Bush public showing of revenge.

Again, put the history aside. You say you have no idea and that’s fair enough, none of us have been in this situation. But if you were an ordinary peace loving Israeli person, what truly would you want to happen…..

I will answer this in a very idealistic, utopian way (which I know is very unlikely). My main aim would be to stop the indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians. It’s a massive cliche and one I don’t like but sometimes you need to be the “bigger man”. Look for a peaceful solution that will stop this going on for who knows how long. Sadly Netanyahu’s government and Hamas don’t seem to see that as a viable option as they both want to wipe each other out.

I can’t speak for it personally as I’ve never been in that position but you will have seen many Israelis and Palestinians pushing for peace, especially ones that have been directly affected by the recent and previous atrocities. We need more voices like that than warmongers who just want to wipe each other out.

It would take a great power conflict with multiple lesser powers involved for it to be World War III, and it would have to be sustained. If it's a six-week limited war like many in the late 1800s, that doesn't count.

Regional conflicts are global business as usual. The US was in Vietnam during the Six-Day War and the Yom Kippur War, and AFAIK no one tried to label the situation WWIII. US-Russia is automatically WWIII, US-China is probably WWIII, and anything involving two other major powers may or may not devolve into that.

Not at all. They are all murderers. I've never condoned Hamas. They are evil. Likewise a rich 1st world nation like Israel butchering an impoverished refugee camp is also pure evil.

Completely agree, but would you personally have the ability to just shrug off the 1400 dead, in the most appalling circumstances, and the taking of 200 hostages. I’m not sure I could tbh…..
