I'm talking a much longer time frame, when it comes to that result. The paper I'm referencing considers the United States to have become dominant after WWII.especially when the likes of america let them do what they want
It's easy to blame the United States, and our citizens deserve a sizable fraction of it for both our domestic and foreign policy failures. The average American citizen is appallingly uneducated when compared to citizens of comparable countries. The Americans you interact with in this sub-forum are not representative of our broader population. Most Americans I meet in day-to-day life were politically disengaged pre-Trump, view education only as a means to a good salary and could care less about what goes on beyond our borders unless the media pipes up. Knowledge and reason are not American values.
The Americans you see around here care deeply and know we're powerless to do much of anything due to weight of numbers. I could argue that the US politics and Trump threads are mainly populated by a group of people collectively processing trauma and learned helplessness as we watch our nation slouch toward Idiocracy.
