especially when the likes of america let them do what they want
I'm talking a much longer time frame, when it comes to that result. The paper I'm referencing considers the United States to have become dominant after WWII.

It's easy to blame the United States, and our citizens deserve a sizable fraction of it for both our domestic and foreign policy failures. The average American citizen is appallingly uneducated when compared to citizens of comparable countries. The Americans you interact with in this sub-forum are not representative of our broader population. Most Americans I meet in day-to-day life were politically disengaged pre-Trump, view education only as a means to a good salary and could care less about what goes on beyond our borders unless the media pipes up. Knowledge and reason are not American values.

The Americans you see around here care deeply and know we're powerless to do much of anything due to weight of numbers. I could argue that the US politics and Trump threads are mainly populated by a group of people collectively processing trauma and learned helplessness as we watch our nation slouch toward Idiocracy.

2.4% of all Americans are Jewish, no U.S. politician is marginalising that voting demographic, before you look at the impact of being seen to be backing an Arab nation among the general voting populace.

The US approach to this is based less on interpretation of morality and justice and more to do domestic politics.

That before you look at business and capitalism.

while them and their poodle britain pretend there the worlds police

Sorry for repeating myself but the problem here is that they are focused on their survival, not the wellbeing of the country.
That's always the lens I recommend viewing these situations through. This is madness, however. It's not even a long-shot gamble for resurrection. A cessation of United States aid will lead to a no-confidence vote in short order. Biden's as pro-Israel as they come, but his Senate voting record shows he's a pragmatist, not an ideologue. He will always bow to political necessity when the occasion demands.

The media will not stand by and ignore a humanitarian crisis when they are in place and there are Pulitzers on offer, any more than they did in Ukraine.

End of the day, it's their responsibility to replace the clown show, and they have abdicated it as a collective.

That punch well above weight of numbers politically due to influence in industries vital to politicians, and their large population in the key swing state of Florida.

Ironically one of the journalists injured in southern Lebanon today had been previously injured by the Russians near Bakhmut earlier in the year.

They've done more to help than the UK or US have, and the recent EU-GCC meeting was perhaps the only bit of sane diplomacy this week.
True, but Ursula is tone deaf to the Palestinian civilians' suffering. She's over-compensating, as German politicians always do when it comes to Israel. The only reason the Hungarian commissioner posted what he did the other day is because he knew Ursula had no real objection. Her determination not to discipline or sack him spoke volumes. His tweet endangered the lives of EU diplomats in the middle east. She now seems to be intimating that the civilians of Palestine are simply collateral damage in some righteous quest this extremist Israeli government is compelled to undertake. Essentially, she's thrown them under the bus in her desire to atone for her ancestors' crimes. And that's a charitable reading of her position.
