Current Affairs Israel is an apartheid state

I think people are just pointing out that the actions of the Israeli government have consequences.
Yes. As they should.

Sadly for the Palestinians the consequence should come from the international community. It won't of course, so Hamas take a few dollars from Iran and strike a 'great victory on behalf of the oppressed' or some other such guff.
I think most of us here have full sympathy for the Israeli victims, just as we do for the people in Gaza who are now being hit even worse.
You'd like to think so, I just feel the general mood is definitely a bit skewed.

Maybe it's just me.

But it's still labeled (on the whole) as an "Israeli" issue, and by association a Jewish one too.

The current regime, and the ones before it have stoked that fire, undoubtedly.

My point was, if I happened to be Jewish and reading this thread I'd feel more than a little uncomfortable.

I mean, blame the Israelis. Fine.

Rewind a few years.

Blame the Germans.

Go back further, blame those taking part in the 2nd crusade.

Even further, how about the Romans? How about the Babalonians?

My examples above are purely to show how utterly ridiculous it is to try and opportion blame on anybody.

The whole thing is utterly fckd and it's not getting fixed.
Just no, mate. That is dirty card to play and is played constantly by Israel. I, and many others on here are criticising the Israeli government NOT individual Israelis. I could if I wished state that by remaining silent during the Israeli GOVERNMENT abuses that the people are also complicit but I am not interested in that. THis is about what the Israeli leadership have been doing for 50 odd years and people like you trying to make it a racial issue are playing right in to their hands.

If more people had stood up to Israel over the last few decades and Palestine had been allowed some sort of existence we would not be having this conversation

I'm sure there are plenty of Israelis in Israel who are against what their government is doing. But realistically what are they supposed to do about it? They can protest and I'm sure there are groups that do that. But protests generally don't achieve very much.

I'd feel uncomfortable if I were Jewish and were being considered Israeli by association too.

He reminds me of Kieran, in the sense that his posts are so tedious I can just instantly scroll past them and don't even need to put him on ignore. That goes for his football posts too let alone his posts in CA.
It was the endless formations which consisted of maybe 3 of our own players and 8 of his transfer targets that pushed me over the edge.

Has anybody ever read Joe Sacco's comic anthology Palestine? It's a great place to start for anybody (and I spy a few here) who doesn't understand the scale of the deathgrip that Israel has over Palestinians. Written in the early 90s but, depressingly, most of the stories are as relevant now as they were back then.

I'm not playing a card, just how I read the mood.

You maybe, other mate. There's certainly some who'd happily raise a glass.

I'm not trying to make it a racial issue. It's just how I read it. Maybe it's my perception that's off having lived in the Middle East for 90% of my adult life.

100% correct.

They didn't, we are.

What now?
