Is our squad rotten?

Not necessarily, just need the right balance and players in the right position.

How this would be achieved is anyone's guess at the mo

Every formation and line up I can think of with the players we have just doesn't look like it would work, for one reason or another. The squad is woefully unbalanced.

Don't think the squad is rotten though. Just low on confidence and suffering due to the management teams apparent lack of a viable plan on how we should play.

Something must be going on behind closed doors that we're not privy to. The players look like they have no idea what they're supposed to be doing. Koeman is watching on with an expression of "wtf are they doing?". Even Keane is looking shaky. When we have the ball there is just no movement, nobody wants the ball. We've brought in some quality players, who are looking distinctly average at the moment.

There's something behind all this, I can't think of any other explanation. Player revolt? Koeman lost the dressing room? Personality clashes in the squad?

SPECULATION.

It's a much different team, different personnel, to the one that downed tools under Martinez at the end of 2015/16, but agreed something does not feel right at the moment.

If there's one thing that makes me feel nostalgic for the Moyes years, it's been the complete lack of fight shown by Everton teams since 2014. We have (arguably) better quality nowadays than ten years ago, but with the courage of a French Army in June 1940.

There were times there where players just didn't run for a ball or got nudged off it by a light breeze tonight. That's nothing to do with tactics or management whatsoever.

You could argue that the attitude comes from the manager down, but these are all making thousands per day to play for one of the biggest clubs in England on a European stage. If they can't motivate themselves they're pathetic.

I thought that too, and the players must shoulder the blame, but with so many of them new, how could they have such a bad attitude individually and collectively? If that's the case, it comes back down to Koeman and Walsh anyway.

In football the manager carries the can and the players know it. If there is underlying bad feeling towards Koeman, the players won't put the club first and knuckle down - they'll carry on in the same spineless cowardly manner as they have been doing until he is out.

It does look as if the bottom has fallen out in terms of morale and organisation and we will probably be on the end of another few hidings before something is done.

Ultimately it has to be Koeman taking responsibility. I just hope that the clubs lawyers drew up a contract that doesn't reward failure quite as handsomely as it did for Martinez.

Reading Rons post-game comments, it seems he did do just that.

And no flowery spin on anything either

It's not rotten it's just not very good

Williams, Holgate, Besic, DCL, Mirallas, Lennon, Mcarthy, are crap

Baines, Jags, Schneiderlin, Rooney, and everyone else are ok squad players / not great

Lots of raw young kids

The truth is we spunked all our money on 3 players who play in 1 position ... With crap in all the other areas . Recipe for crap and a mid table finish

You missed out a lot of players who are crap there mate

Tonight answered a long standing question of mine, one I've brought up in the past but never quite got myself into a position to offer a definitive answer.
It was to do with players and the fans, wether the team were responsible for lifting the fans or for the fans to raise the team.
Tonight it was obvious, it's down to the team. Thousands of blues travelled at great expense to carry the cause, it could be the same for a home game, or an away around the country. When they walk onto the pitch they know there are many, many Evertonians there and that in itself is, or should be, enough for them to raise themselves to give it their best.
Tonight was the biggest slap in the face for the supporters I've seen an Everton team display in just on 50 years.
This idea of 'professionalism' just doesn't wash. Primarily these players should be playing for the supporters, then the club, then the manager. The concept of getting a titty lip and not playing for a manager for whatever reason is sickening when the only ones who suffer are the supporters.
They need to be made aware of it in whatever way possible. Shameful tonight.
Understand everything you say there , but this doesnt even come close to the Derby at Anfield under Martinez. April 2016 a part of me died watching that.
Tonight was piss poor tho , but still way behind that 4-0 drubbing.

I think another issue here is Steve Walsh.I think the man is a bluffer. He's supposed to be this master scout yet he couldn't find an adequate replacement for Lukaku, when he had more than enough time to do so.Is this director of football thing working out i wonder? Is Koeman happy working with Walsh? How much of a say has Koeman with regards to the clubs transfer policy?

Difficult times ahead lads. No rhyme or reason for the players playing in Koeman's system they have been sleepwalking the past three games. Ugly and very painful to watch. I fear that Romulu is licking his chops.
