Is our squad rotten?

Whilst I think most can agree that Martinez was wrong and not up to the job, but the way our squad downed tools in his final months, even during the cup semi-final was frankly a disgrace for any professional, let alone the senior ones we have at our club.

At the time we gave them the benefit of the doubt, saying it was Martinez was the wrong 'un and they'd be better under the right manager, but tonight reminded me of those dark days under Martinez. The squad just don't appear bothered.

It makes me wonder whether it isn't the manager but rather these so called professionals we've got in our squad.

Tonight answered a long standing question of mine, one I've brought up in the past but never quite got myself into a position to offer a definitive answer.
It was to do with players and the fans, wether the team were responsible for lifting the fans or for the fans to raise the team.
Tonight it was obvious, it's down to the team. Thousands of blues travelled at great expense to carry the cause, it could be the same for a home game, or an away around the country. When they walk onto the pitch they know there are many, many Evertonians there and that in itself is, or should be, enough for them to raise themselves to give it their best.
Tonight was the biggest slap in the face for the supporters I've seen an Everton team display in just on 50 years.
This idea of 'professionalism' just doesn't wash. Primarily these players should be playing for the supporters, then the club, then the manager. The concept of getting a titty lip and not playing for a manager for whatever reason is sickening when the only ones who suffer are the supporters.
They need to be made aware of it in whatever way possible. Shameful tonight.

Something must be going on behind closed doors that we're not privy to. The players look like they have no idea what they're supposed to be doing. Koeman is watching on with an expression of "wtf are they doing?". Even Keane is looking shaky. When we have the ball there is just no movement, nobody wants the ball. We've brought in some quality players, who are looking distinctly average at the moment.

There's something behind all this, I can't think of any other explanation. Player revolt? Koeman lost the dressing room? Personality clashes in the squad?

I triggered on Koeman earlier. The players lack the following
1. Passion
2. Belief
3. Ability
4. Fight
5. Will to win
You could have Pacino's character from Any Given Sunday giving the pre game pep talk of his life to these muppets and still they would walk out onto the pitch sleepwalking.

Add to that , players that are starting to look like they've come here for a payday

Definitely, said it for ages. Began under Moyes and remains to this day.

I reckon Baines is the bad apple.

I imagine when the team talks happen that he just strums his guitar and pulls snide faces behind the managers back.

Never trust a man with a guitar.

Certainly need to go back to basics. That involves players who can run with the ball, natural width, and a physical presence up front.

Lennon, Lookman (or Mirallas) Niasse all to start next match.

Rather than rotten, I think the squad is almost too fresh. It's difficult trying to figure out how new players will play and the best way to play them, especially when we've had such a difficult run of games.

We've been crying out for a 'squad overhaul' for ages, now we've had one we are faced with some of the negative consequences that can occur.
