Is Martinez our best signing this year?

Is he fck.

lol

I am not impressed by his signings but I will give him a season before judging him. If he can keep us in the top 7 then I would say he is our best signing this summer.

His signing haven't done too bad. You should have waited until the window closed lid.

A few years ago when I realised Moyes limitations would never change it was depressing, the whole cabal of english league managers were complete and utter shte absolute clones of Moyes. Perhaps they were stamped out in a secret underground factory under the Pennines replete with stock phrases of banal cntery I really don't know. But I knew under Kenwright to play decent football, excite, entertain and actually win something swapping Moyes for another lookey-likey could be terminal.

Then I saw Roberto's Swansea City.

Swansea had been wound up as a club in '85 surviving only to just avoid relegation to the conference in 2003 - minutes away from bankruptcy. Yet Martinez came along in 2007 and rebuilt this most unpromising club he threw the rule book out that says you can't play footy in the lower leagues and won the division bringing in unknowns and players nailed as failures providing the bedrock of what Swansea have today.

I followed his career after seeing Swansea hoping and praying the stars might align one day to bring him here but knew it couldn't happen. Anyone with an inkling could see the impossible task of Wigan but he never gave up, moaned or slunk into depression and it was no surprise Villa come in for him. Lucky Villa I thought...but astonishingly he turned them down and then incredibly (and joy upon joy) he turned down the leper colony at our old place.

It was then I knew - I fckin knew it was destiny absolute fckin destiny he was chosen!

Roberto Martinez is unique he thinks differently to the noddys in the pack because he is intelligent, brave and loyal attributes perhaps only Wenger can boast in the English game.

By god we should be dancing in the streets having Roberto already his work has lifted the spirits - oh yes, he is our most important signing.

And they laughed. Well done you.

points mean prizes.

points on the board that is

Loving the way you refuse to use Caps Lock to throw lids off the scent. You've outdone yourself. Very impressed.

They couldn't defend though!

Oh yes they can!

I will judge Martinez after 2 seasons to see where we are, not in 6 months time. He got attributes in a manager I want at Everton, Kone will be an improvement on Jelavic mate.

How do you feel after six months mate?

Moyes bottled it constantly against any team in the old sky 4 and seemingly never had a plan b in game. turn a couple of those losses or draws into wins, why CAN'T a different manager get more out of the squad?

Indeed!

I think we will be okay until the likes of baines, jags, felli, mirallas etc. Leave/retire down the line and RM has to replace them I just dont have faith in him in the transfer market, kone and robles have been poor buys imo, alcaraz on a free is decent business and defelou is good albeit only a loan deal so im very skeptical atm.

Hiya!

Martinez has an almost entirely British backroom staff. His methods simply haven't worked in the Premier League. Never got more than 43 points and never conceded fewer than 61 goals in a season. Other teams with smaller budgets have done better. That is my real worry.

Hath no fear pal.

He told Kenwright he'd get us into the Champions League.

He's gonna have to change the style of play to accomplish that and I agree that we do have the talent here to crack the top four...

...but do we have the mindset? Martinez may be the one to establish that.

Maybe be just could.

I'm really not looking forward to next season. It will be mid-table dross dressed up as if it is something superior to what Moyes offered. We have shown next to no ambition in the transfer market, and we can look forward to losing at least one of our best players before deadline day. It will be like this for a few years, possibly forever the way things are going.

Your crystal ball is sh*te lid.

So.

I'm officially endorsing Roberto Martinez as my choice for EFC Manager. Here's why:

1 - He's not a bell and will represent the club well.

2 - He plays the good togger on the floor.

3 - He turned the sh*te down.

4 - He is capable of developing average players.

5 - He's willing to play the young players and develop them.

6 - Goat doesn't want him.

7 - "Robert Martinez blue and white army" works.

8 - He is capable of controlling the club from the bottom to the top up.

9 - He doesn't turn 40 until July and has already managed in the Premier League and won something.

10 - I'm like a sheep who's easily swayed on the basis of a good game here and there.

Welcome to L4 Robby lad.

I still think the board is more to blame than moyes for lack of progress in recent years mind.
