Is Jo a no go?

Truthfully today Jo was dreadful. Not all his fault because WBA played well and we couldn't find quality in the midfield to get him the ball and when he did get it he was very sad nearly lost it every time.

I know what I want for Chrimbo now a fully fit Saha he is just absolute class. Comes on and defuses WBA with one blip of quality. At the moment we won't be giving Man City any money in the summer bank on it.

It looked to me like he'd been told to concentrate on holding the ball up and he concentrated on it too much. Bit like Fellaini, he needs the team to be playing well to look good.

Jo needs to get in on the pace of the game . We need a striker who moves quickly with the ball at his feet ala James Vaughan . A good few times today we lost good attacking opportunities because he was too slow on the uptake . Against teams such as West Brom you have to break them down and kill them off quickly because if you dont they will battle right to end and nick one or two as happened today .

For all those who dont rate Pienaar and wouldnt lose sleep if we sold him . Look at what he did today and ask me who in our squad could do the same ? No one whatsoever . Make him captain

What is it about Everton supporters and the need to evaluate the potential of a player in a short amount of time?

Let's bump this thread at the end of the season as there isn't anyone here who can give an honest assessment of Jo's potential based on his performances against Bolton, Newcastle, and West Brom.

I agree . Everton supporters and I am guilty of it too , dont give anyone much time to produce . Think we need to chillout abit .

Give him time, he's only played three matches and wasn't/isn't fully matchfit, due to the lack of opportunities at City. Thought he was half decent against Newcastle and very poor today. Just lets wait and see how it works out for him and us. Too early to call in my opinion.

It is early days but he certainly needs to work on his upper body strength, he's a bit lightweight.

I think with his goals he got early on, he has risen hopes of him a little bit more than we expected. I think he will be a pretty decent signing in the games to come.

I see your point Bill but this guy isn't a rookie, we are talking about an 18m player here. He was completely off the pace, his first touch today was absolutely bloody awful, when he had the ball he looked like a player with no confidence whatsoever.

I concede I'm guilty sometimes of being to quick to pass judgement. I do hope he turns it around. But today wasn't his day. Thats what I saw when he played for the light blue very pacey but McFadden like in losing the ball. Still I'm mixed with my feelings I know so far he doesn't merit a 10 million buyout in my mind. Still eleven or so to go to change my mind.

I think you may have been watching a different game to me!

1st off he is a 'rookie' as far as the prem goes.
The transfer fee is a moot point as it was obviously inflated by man citys involvement when the asking price to us was nearer 12m
His first touch wasnt bloody awful at all, he 'gave it away' about twice, being tackled isnt the same as 'giving it away' or do you expect him to never lose the ball, beat 11 men and score every time he gets near the ball??

But I will concede it wasnt a 'brilliant' performance and he seemed a little unsure at times what to do with the ball, seeing as he has played with new team mates in three games now(yes three!!) maybe he hasnt fitted in yet to how players move around him or think, yet!

FFS lad get a grip, sl@gging players of after three games shows you to have buffoonery tendencies!

IMO like,

spam, spam and fecking spam.

It took Labby 17 games before he actually started to shine.

And no one ****s on Labby. (No one is half the man Labby was)

TX Bill. Love ya lad

After watching jos performance in todays game the other weeks euphoria after the bolton game seems a distant memory.
After one good performance and two mediocre ones - do you think the prospect of jo becoming a full time everton player is worth persuing?
for me no, his positional play is woeful taking other players space up or not making the right runs or not dropping a bit when he should and thats not because hes in bad form, he should know automatically hes just not there.
still hopeful Vaughan can still make it imho possibly a very big name in game if all goes better for him.
