Is it time for us to replace Howard?

YES

Here's list. Lots of them unrealistic.
Pete Cech
Kasper Schmeichel
Manual Neuer
David Marshall
Peter Shilton
That McCarthy who was at Reading but isn't getting a game at QPR despite Rob Green being pants.
Asmir Begovic
Andoni Zubizaretta
Tim Krul
That Brugge keeper whose name I forget. (Ryan?)
Rene Higuita

He's an oddity as some games he single handedly keeps us in it but in others he makes stupid errors.

Begovic would be fantastic

Yes, not just because he is a bit dodgy, but because we could get very good money from a MSL team, which would then allow us to buy a younger and more superior goalkeeper for relatively little outlay.

Isn't he playing better now than ever before?

Pre Beard was some sketchy times but Post Beard we're seeing the fruits of those labours.

I think the answer is yes, however with who I'm not sure. Not saying he's completely lost it because he hasn't but he does seem to be costing us a lot these days. At the minute though i'm not sure whether I'd like us to risk playing Joel cause even Martinez seems to have lost faith

1. Should have been sent off against Chelsea, possibly twice, lost his head and the back-line panicked after the third goal
2. Cost us the second goal against Palace and lost us all momentum
3. Should have saved Gerrard's free kick.
4. Failed to get the ball out of play when Pienaar was on the floor, leading to utd's 2nd goal.
5. Should have saved Larsson's free kick at Sunderland (was a poor wall admittedly)
6. Stupid piece of play against Sunderland, on another day could easily have been sent off by a more trigger-happy ref
7. At fault for BOTH goals today (poor first clearance, yes Barry was dispossessed but should have saved the second

If Alcaraz had made ONE THIRD of these faults his body would have been strung up outside Finch Farm by a lynch mob.

He does not inspire confidence in me. His distribution is at best alright but he cannot marshall his back line. He is a very good shot stopper, I will not dispute that.

For me, if he shows no improvement, I would move for David marshall or bench him for Robles. If Villa get relegated, I would consider Guzan.

Definitely. His positioning is horrible at freekicks. This season alone the one in the derby and against sunderland he stood literally at one post and left the entire goal to be aimed at as if he's too arrogant to jump acorss and save it. The Gerrard freekick wasn't even in the corner and he was beaten cos of his positioning, the same with Larsson's FK. His long shot problem is acknowledged by most fans for a long time now. He's good at one on ones and decent at penalties but his howlers keep on increasing. Having had no competition ever since he's been with us hasn't helped his cause. Iain Turner, Wessels, Mucha, Robles and the all so great Nash who I'm sure hardly anyone remembers...none of them capable of pushing him away as they too showed signs of vulnerabilities except Nash who was so boss that he never even played. The only other decent keeper we could've had was John Ruddy but he was moved on.
