Is it time for us to replace Howard?

I'm the opposite mate. For me it's an absolute must and priority position. Top keeper would have won us about 5-6 more points already this season. He's an absolute liability with real poor decision making which has crept in more than normal. 13 games in and there's probably about 8 occasions where we've all said "bad decision by Howard". That's far far too many at this stage of the season.

He's not perfect but he's still on the tier of keepers below Courtios and DeGee, we obviously can't afford players at that level but neither an we afford to spend the money a keeper like Begervic would cost and who's not a huge improvement on Howard when we need to replace Distin, Osman, Pienaar or Alcaraz soon.

It's just about priorities, Joel was a gamble that hasn't worked. He's probably been Martinez biggest mistake after Traore.

Spot on Dougie, we need to replace him and others, but we're not in a position financially to do so.

As it stands, Howard is the best keeper we can probably get for our club.

I really want us to sign a keeper who consistently does the simple things brilliantly, like Nigel Martyn. I'd let Howard off with a few of the long range saves he makes if he didn't make the coming off his line mistakes or go down too quickly. You know what else annoys me? The American Evertonians who he can't do any wrong in their eyes. We can do so much better.

What annoys me is those in the UK who blame him for every issue in the squad. You'd think those in the UK (read: knowledgeable about football) would know better.

No one is blaming him for everything in the squad, but you see top goalkeepers winning games for teams rather than Howard consistently losing games for us, Palace this season, Chelsea last season, dropping us points against Liverpool, Sunderland and others. He doesn't talk to the defence, he's a very good shot stopper and I'm very grateful for all he has done for us but a keeper CANNOT make the mistakes he does. Name me the last time Howard won us a game? You can't because he hasn't in recent memory. Not good enough at all.

I've seen plenty of top goalkeepers lose matches for their teams too. If you're looking for the perfect keeper, good luck. You'll never find one. And Howard has kept us in plenty of games over the years.
