Is it time for us to replace Howard?

I would not be surprised if Martinez played Robles. against City.
It is a game that we are expected to get nothing from anyway and Tim Howard seems to have a World Cup hangover just like a lot of other players.
Robles did play a number of first team games for Martinez at Wigan and it might be a very worthwhile kick in the arse for Tim Howard.

Judging what I saw from Robles last season I have no reason to believe we'd be any better and would probably be worse. That being said we got a couple of UEFA games we can try him out in.

IF..... And it's a big IF. .....Martinez goes with Robles he needs to give him a ten game run , how can a keeper develop an understanding and instill confidence with his defenders without having a decent run of games ?

Far too many mistakes from our goalkeeper for a team with top 4 aspirations, his mistakes are costing us points this season, just not good enough.

Its not easy decide on who you would like as a replacement, have always thought highly of Enyeama and my opinion didn't alter after our two games against them this season.

Wonder how much would Schmeichel cost when/if Leicester goes down.

I just watched a highlights from their game against Villa and he was outstanding.

See the problem with replacing a good keeper is getting the right replacment in afterwards.

I mean we replaced the best of all time with;

MYhre / Simosen / Gerrard / Wright

Before we got Martyn and then after him Howard.

(if my memory serves me well)

One thing I find interesting about keepers is how many fans supporting whatever club are truly happy with their keeper? For example Begovic is a name often put forward when replacements are touted for Howard, but he has come in for a fair bit of stick recently from his own fans. There are many others that you could use, but the main point being it is probably the hardest position to buy for. As you are either spending a fair bit on somebody elses first choice (DDG), gambling on a youngster(Robles), bringing in an older GK as cover (Friedel) or loaning somebody elses up and comer (Courtois). Don't envy Martinez in this respect.

Great shout that. Only fairly young and yet to reach his prime, I watched him myself recently and I noticed his ball distribution is very very good also!
