Is it time for us to replace Howard?

Despite rising popularity, we are nowhere near investing in the sport compared to other countries. Much of America still views it as a diving/sissy/girly/boring sport. Unfortunately, the play acting that often goes on in the World Cups does not help this notion.

Yeah, I can understand and appreciate that, especially when you see real tough guys fighting in ice hockey... no play acting there !

Brad Guzan is a better keeper - the amount of time he has kept Villa in games.

I would take Howard over Guzan any day of the week. Its way easier to play keeper when there is always 10 men back (see Howard in the world cup). Joe Hart had his best season at Brum when they played the same way.

Curious how much the Begovic fanboys actually watch him. He's not that good, and that's why no one has snapped him up... Cech, yeah if we could get him then fantastic, but that's a pipe dream IMO.

It's not that he's amazing, it's that he's better than Howard and within our price range/availability.
What do you think his price is? 10 mil? Opportunity cost says we can upgrade in better ways for that kind of money...especially considering we're probably skint at the moment.

I'm not sure he is, some of his mistakes have been shocking this year and inconsistency is why people want another keeper. I'd go after a Timo Horn type over Begovic every time. Then again, I know basically nothing about properly judging keepers.

10 mil is reasonable. Howard is going to be replaced in a couple of years anyway, age dictates this.

Can we upgrade in better ways? De Gea is keeping United in the top 4 this season. A goalkeeper isn't a spare part, the guy to pick the ball out of the back of the net, he can be a game winner in the same way as a 28million pound striker can be.

Right now a goalkeeper is needed more than any other position in the starting eleven if we want to be Champions League material.

Begovic may not be the right keeper at all, it's a name some posters have bandied about, there are others out there we could take. It's a bit like when we wanted Moyes out, and posters replied "who with?"

If you look at the save Guzan makes, they are really good saves - Howard is becoming a joke. For every good game Howard has, there are at least 3 bad ones.
