Is it time for us to replace Howard?

A world class keeper can be worth 10 points a season. I like Howard, but he is making more mistakes that are costing us points. I would go for Cech. 7mill apparently. We'd get 5 or 6 seasons of him and he could make the difference

If Chelsea were willing to let him go to another English club.

Not sure they would. I take him all day though. 7MM..?? Sure.

Absolutely wrong there buddy. You couldn't be more wrong.

He was partially at fault for their first goal. No one has denied that.

To say that this loss is on him is just again, kopite behavior mate.

..and it really needs to stop with the "supporters."

If we're gonna "get rid" then send Distin and Jags out the door too because they were [Poor language removed] today. Many of our players were crap today. Let's send them on to pastures anew.

Both their goals were due to mistakes by our field players. Let's get rid.

Do you see how stupid people are being? If not, I can continue but it may not make a difference.

Partially at fault for both goals, really.

People in other threads are slagging off other players for the defeat, too. Isn't all on Howard.

As a team we're in the process of phasing Distin out already (Stones), and many were calling for the pair of their heads early in the season when they were in horrible form. Nae different for Howard, after a poor performance.

Nailed on there.

Yeah, if we had the money and could get a world class keeper, we'd be all over it.

But goalkeeper hasn't been one of the priorities in recent years. It will be at some point and perhaps may be right now. But there are, and have been, other priorities that our money needed to be spent on.

I imagine if RM had spent 10MM on a new GK, Evertonians would have gone ballistic at the "waste of money" when we needed to spend in more pressing areas.

For the record, in case I forget to do the poll.

I'd say a left footed winger was our top priority, with keeper second.

Howard's OK, and had a really good season last season, but he does make me nervous. Robles isn't good enough to push him for his place, which is a far from ideal situation.

I'm old fashioned, I want a keeper who can dominate his area. Howard will never do this. On the plus side, he's a decent shot-stopper and he's good with his feet which suits our style. There are worse keepers in the Premier League, but there are better too. In terms of the first choice first team, goalkeeper is one of our positions where we're slightly below par.

Again not putting it all on him but he is costing us points. He is. He's fumbled far too often, gotten soft hands to free kicks or long shots and we are suffering for it as a team. We obviously can't send him to pastures new because we can't get an adequate enough replacement or improvement at this moment in time. We've throw away winning positions because of him, directly, far, far too many times for a keeper for a team of our ambitions.

Then, if you honestly believe that, then he just needs to be sent on to finish his career in MLS. No sense him keeping him around. And then you've got to find someone who's better, and for the right price.

Easier said than done.

It's almost impossible in frigging December.

David Marshall is a good value option, Howard needs serious competition, Robles isn't it!

Seen Barcelona's keeper tonight make a couple of world class saves when called upon, Barca went on to win with the last kick of the ball! Top class keepers are match winners

Marshall defo stands out as a decent viable option. Not sure how old he is?

Howard has no competition so he can continue clowning about growing his beard whilst making mistakes

It really is this.

Howard was decent last year as we all thought Robles wasn't utter dirge. Now we know he is Howard is looking like he's going to play every single game this season which is lunacy really.
