Is Baines Irreplaceable

Baines and Fellaini both irreplaceable for us as we are. If they go I think we have to completely re-think a team that has been generally effective. If, as I hope, Martinez is looking at ways of getting even more out of these exceptional players then we can move forward. Baines needs someone covering more effectively behind him and a player just behind the forwards who is harder to mark.

He didn't actually say "maybe playing in Spain this coming season" though. He did say he would consider to play in Spain in the future (before Moyes left).

The media will always try to dig things up (taking interviews with our best players while they are on international duty; asking them are they leaving). The media want us to fail.

I think I'm going to give up after this post. It's talking to a ten year old.

He would be replaced eventually but it would be a long time until we had a left back of his calibre again. Oviedo may turn out to be very good but Baines is excellent. It would be a huge loss to lose him if he does go. I agree with Macfarland, I'd rather we sell Felli and keep Baines

You are petulant. Do your parents ever teach you how to be polite? Different opinion and you call someone you don't know a 10 years old kid. Grow up.

no player is irreplaceable ,if and when we lose baines / fellaini the money generated if well spent will improve the overall strength and depth of the squad,so though down two high quality players we bring in four or five of slightly less quality but who improve the overall strength of the squad the loss of said quality players will not have as big an impact on the overall performance levels as it may otherwise have had.having said that i would much rather we kept both and still improved other areas aswell...but we are everton things seldom go our way.

It's worth noting that selling 'big' players is how we remain competitive. We need to have that 'buy them young and cheap, sell them experienced and expensive' approach at the moment. Until the fabled investment arrives...

That ok if you get big offers like we did for Lescott, but Man u will try and get Baines cheap.

Is this thread title a joke? First Moyes; people thinking it was over and we'd never succeed again, worrying over the slightest things, then Baines; yes Baines is replaceable. Good left back are a harder find than most other positions but left backs come and go. He will be replaced and Everton carry on.

Why do people flap on here? This shouldn't be a problem

this is how our position is being presented suddenly but is it true. we seem to sell less of our players while at their peak or coming up to their peak than the top 4 or 5 do. I think our success has largely been by ignoring the inflated state of the transfer market, gambling on players potential and generally getting it right. I think we are hopefully going to improve in the other area that means we don't have to spend big, which is to see our academy players gradually getting more opportunities.
