In a word, Yes. Plus I doubt he'd want to play in Manchester, what with the place being full of Mancs (and Cockneys). Rooney is approaching being their alltime leading scorer and they don't exactly like him!

most people saying bainsy isnt irreplaceable but no one coming up with sensible replacements ie danny rose etc. not many decent lbs around.

Don't want to sell as he is the cog in the Everton squad that makes us tick. But if he goes only for 20m +

id sign young Luke Shaw from Southampton

Rumours: Baines, Fellaini, Heitinga...who's next Mirallas?

Everton we need to keep all our best players (bar Johnny) not selling them. Using the money available to add to the squad.

Well, considering he is 28, 29 in December, then no. If we get over 15 million for him and was able to buy a player like Luke Shaw for 10million then I would consider that a great investment for a team like Everton, that cannot afford to have quick fixes, like a 24 million pound 29 year old Van Persie etc. This model works for us. Nobody wants him to but the player himself, might live with regrets if he never plays Champions League football.

Yep, absolutely irreplaceable. We might as well fold the club, lock the gates and turn out the lights forever.

Saying that, we're probably already on borrowed time after Sir David left.

Christ, there are some utter weapons out there.

I think he would be very hard to replace, what baines gives us is a very rare skillset for a left back i.e a full back who creates the majority of the teams chances, what you would normally pay top dollar for a winger to produce. So on that basis he is pretty difficult to get a like for like replacement on the money being offered so far.

Luke Shaw

I honestly don't think we could get shaw. The fee would be to big for us to spend on a LB, which excluding baines is not a prominent posistion usualy. Certainly not a posistion we could spend big on when other posistions need that big investment.

Other big rich clubs would be in for shaw also.

We have Oveido and garbutt. Oveido has looked like a "baines lite" since he was signed, Garbutt big things were expected of this lad. I'd spend up to 5M on another experienced LB and invest the 10M higher up the pitch.

End of the day, a quality striker, wingers and No.10 would make up for the excellence baines offered. He was a weapon from that posistion, the like of we won't find again, we need that threat to come from somewhere else on the pitch.

He's the heartbeat of the team, and our main creative outlet. Other players look up to him and rely on him. If Baines leaves, one or two other players like Felli may think that Everton don't look like a team heading for Europe, and that they should be leaving too. For me, it's not a question of money : the difference between £15 and £18m is nothing compared to what Baines can offer us. Martinez has got to fight tooth and nail to keep him and sign him up to a new contract.

But if he wants to go there's not much we can do. And tbf if he does he deserves that crack at league titles and CL. He can't be replaced, by that I mean we won't find another LB offering what he does. However that doesn't mean we can't find other players that will offer that creativity, goals etc from another posistion.

Oveido was bought for a reason last summer and it certainly wasn't to play the odd game when baines was injured. I'd say we probably held onto baines by the skin of our teeth last summer.

There's something really tacky and immoral about Moyes coming in for Baines, especially the risible offer made. Moyes has fallen badly in my estimation. I know that we are possibly going in for some Wigan players but Roberto is presumably not being paid any more by his former club.
