Current Affairs Irish Border and Brexit

Why should Ireland tell the EU to back off. We don't want two trading bocks on the island. The EU is supporting us on this.
It's almost like playground stuff. England is taking the huff because they can't steamroll Ireland any more.

Honestly Pete, look at it, tory hardliners backed by fringe lunatic unionists trying to jam through what they want but this time it's not working.

Fine, so you are happy for a hard border as required by the EU, so what’s the next issue........

It’s like the whole of this thread didn’t exist......

Not really Pete.

I have not got a clue how it gets sorted, have little knowledge of the details of NI/ROI politics, but the fact wont go away. As it stands, there will be an open border between the EU and the UK.

I am fine with that.

Let's not forget the Yougov poll that showed 81% of leave voters who said destabilizing the peace process is a price worth paying for Brexit (it was 87% among Tory leave voters). What message does that send to the people of NI and ROI about British desires to maintain peace on the island?

This is just rubbish. How many people did they ask and what was the question. I can’t believe that any sane person, apart from the EU, would want to destabilise the peace process.......

Did you even consider it when voting Leave?

Honesty button is on.

I didnt give it a moments thought.

As am I mate, and I’ve been saying that throughout this thread. Our Irish contingent however are demanding both an open border and an EU insisted hard border, and while blaming ‘the English’ for everything will not utter one single word against the disgraceful way the EU is behaving in this matter.........

Ok, let’s try another tack. Is there anything that the EU could do to make this border issue easier.......answers I expect none......

Probably not. Its not really a problem of their making is it?

That said, I am sure they are delighted its cropped up.

Well, the U.K. would not have even had a vote about leaving if the EU hadn’t treated Cameron like crap. But everyone keeps telling me that the EU is involved and central to this, yet the EU just does a Pontius Pilate act, washes its hands and then says it’s all impossible......and yes the EU are delighted that this has given them a negotiating advantage.....

Quite.

No one realised, no one even cared. So vote Leave in ignorance. At least we knew what we were in, for better or worse.

Not calling you ignorant btw. Far from it.
