It's a bit of a sad thought, but I'm not sure we are any better off than when Stormont didn't sit for 3 years. I don't think it's working so the sensible thing is an election. In normal democracies, an election is called where a government isn't functioning properly.

Of course, we would probably end up in a similar position after an election, but that's for the people to decide. I say, let them.
Yes I’d agree we haven’t made any progress since the 3 year hiatus.

But as you say, another election will probably put us in a very similar position.

Oh, they'll turn out and vote like sheep again without a single doubt. We get the politicians we deserve unfortunately. My hope lies with the young. Hopefully they won't put up with the bigotted crap!

I’m from a very moderate background, I vote Alliance party and (like a fair few of my generation and background) am probably neither nationalist or unionist really; I care about my future and that of my family no matter what flag flies over stormont. I think even the dogs in the street saw that the political direction taken by the DUP was damaging to unionism and that Boris and co don’t give a fig about those of us living here. Theresa May’s deal was actually a good one for NI but conversely politically unacceptable to Brexiteers.

It’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out over the next while. I see a collapse of the institutions here as almost inevitable. One thing is for certain, this place is one almighty headache!
Sadly Boris is just interested in power, the only outcome Boris is happy with is a physical border put by the EU in response to the UKs unreasonable demands, this will be billed as the big bad EU, lapped up by the thick selfish who lack any morsel of empathy. And the very last thing the entire UK needs is to be in a trade war with one of the world's biggest trading block. But for domestic politics it makes an evil sense . But as usual blame the EU for the Economy grinding to halt and win another election off the back of it. Winning power for powers sake, not caring how it impacts people's lives is the Boris way. "You stalled/crashed the Economy Prime Minister". Boris "No I didn't, the EU refused to accept my perfectly spivving demand to get rid of that European Court of justice whim wham Latin nonsense. Huzzah! Love Me! Best Vaccine Programme Phwoar Vote Tory, not Captain Hindsight." Phwoar Phwoar!

Spot on! Amazing how many are wilfully blind!

Yes agree, I think we should just hand over British territory back to the Ireland/Eu, just as Spain allowed Basque/Catalan independence, China let HK and Taiwan get on with whatever they want, Russia giving back the Kurile Islands to Japan.

Grow up.

You will of course be aware that the GFA is in place to facilitate unification based on the will of the Irish people alone.

Unification will also mean full re-entry back into the EU and that will be a big enticement to voters.

I've got a good handle of Boris and how his flock of "sheeples" operate.

Yes but Britain was a signatory of that agreement and I think we all know what store Britain place in agreements.
