It's funny that this guys name is Lord Frost, like some villain from a norwegian fairytale for three year olds.
And then that BBC article seems to avoid the fact that the same fella, Duke Winter, and his buddies in team mega Tory negotiated the deal and then you hit the typos in the article. I stopped reading when the journalist started explaining quoted tweets with word for word repetition. Christ, what's happened to the Beeb?

As for the Tories, are people actually buying guff like this? They negotiated the bloody deal!
"Moreover, that the protocol represents a moment of EU overreach when the UK's negotiating hand was tied, and therefore cannot reasonably last in its current form,"

"Moreover, that the protocol represents a moment of EU overreach when the UK's negotiating hand was tied, and therefore cannot reasonably last in its current form,"

"They pulled our pants down in the negotiations so we want another go".

Our government is like that whiny entitled kid on the playground that can never accept losing anything. It's been nothing but tantrums since Barnier kept calling their bluff, we'll soon be at the moment when we go tell on the EU to a dinner lady.

Unelected House of Lords government crony - just what the Brexiteers for.

Would not let this bloke negotiate a bag of pick n mix. Seriously who on earth in the EU is taking this bloke Frost seriously or the UK for that matter. Its not even a year since this was agreed by the very same people Johnson Brexit government, they own this agreement, what is their word and signature worth, its embarrassing surely even the most committed of Brexit must see that.

It's almost as if they're just saying what benefits them personally and sod everyone else! Arseholes!

Not sure how many here if any are within DUP/ UUP or just other people who identity as Northern Irish and believe they are part of the UK, but make no mistake the brand of Tory who have hands on the power, both party and government, absolutely don't care about Northern Ireland, don't actually think they see it as collateral damage.

Was interesting the interviews with NI business people on C4 News last night saying that the UK Government should let the ECJ point slide because what the EU is suggesting addresses their issues...

I’m from a very moderate background, I vote Alliance party and (like a fair few of my generation and background) am probably neither nationalist or unionist really; I care about my future and that of my family no matter what flag flies over stormont. I think even the dogs in the street saw that the political direction taken by the DUP was damaging to unionism and that Boris and co don’t give a fig about those of us living here. Theresa May’s deal was actually a good one for NI but conversely politically unacceptable to Brexiteers.

It’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out over the next while. I see a collapse of the institutions here as almost inevitable. One thing is for certain, this place is one almighty headache!

Whilst I won't deny the schadefreude I felt when the DUP shot themselves in the foot by supporting Brexit, their subsequent glee at holding a knife to May's throat and the subsequent kick in the balls that Johnson delivered to them (what did they think was going to happen once they were no longer needed), the fact is that these awful, hypocrital, bigotted, corrupt, toxic, malignant stain on democracy have let the people down for generations for their self advancement and preservation. Watch as both sides create fake 'crises' in the run up to elections to ensure that everyone retreats to their trenches and digs in. They ensure they get elected again in case 'themuns' get in. When they get in, if they don't get their way, they 'take their ball home'. It is shameful and they have let generations down!!!

P.S. (I get so angry at these smug, malevolent orcs who masquerade as Christians that I tend to lose coherency - soz)

P.P.S (The sausage thing never bothered me anyway - give me a Cookstown or Denny sausage anytime over the imported ones :)

The whole lot of them are a disgrace. They should get on with improving the quality of life and economic prospects of everyone here instead of squabbling. Utterly depressing.

So depressing! I swing from anger to depression if I watch NI News so just avoid it now. I reckon they're just running a recording from 10 years ago anyway. Strange thing is, although most will agree with me when I sound off, these dinosaurs will be re-elected with huge majorities come the next election. It's the reason they don't even have to try to be functioning politicians. The fact that very few people I know will admit to voting DUP, for example, yet they get voted in with huge majorities in this part of the world, proves to me that they know it is wrong and shameful but do it anyway. *sigh* Now I'm depressed again!!!!

My two pence, the current position is beneficial for some and problematic for others. The logical solution is to help the businesses that are having problems. So much posturing going on and so little meaningful action - that goes for everyone involved. Can't be bothered with any of them lol

It's a bit of a sad thought, but I'm not sure we are any better off than when Stormont didn't sit for 3 years. I don't think it's working so the sensible thing is an election. In normal democracies, an election is called where a government isn't functioning properly.

Of course, we would probably end up in a similar position after an election, but that's for the people to decide. I say, let them.

It’s all posturing for sure. Trying to manufacture a “victory” over the EU to get a boost in the polls or slavishly insisting nothing can change - there needs to be meaningful compromise on both sides of the argument to solve this, no matter what circumstances brought us to this pass.
