Current Affairs Irish Border and Brexit

Northern Ireland doesn’t sit comfortably within the United Kingdom. We were fine when Westminster wasn forced to take an interest in us.
The fundamentalist thinking of some of our right wing unionist leaders doesn’t belong in a modern country hence the introduction of equal rights in marriage, abortion and now an Irish language act by Westminster over their heads. There is some unrest in the more militant loyalist groups but there seems to be confusion as to whom to direct their anger against. I think when the dust settles you may see a more pragmatic unionist voice emerging who will recognise the inevitability of a United Ireland and who will start a dialogue in regard to where unionism sits within the context of the split from the UK. I can see some violence on the streets but I can’t see a sustained terrorist campaign by loyalists as they wouldn’t appear to have an end game. I suppose they could go for re-partition but would Britain want to be responsible for a more fundamentalist one party statelet. Can’t see that happening, Our next Assembly election will be interesting, we could have a Sinn Fein First Minister, that would be a major re-adjustment, would the DUP collapse Stormont to prevent that happening, would the UUP merge with the DUP to get the votes to retain the First Minister post.
If we do get a Sinn Fein First Minister they will call for a border poll at the earliest opportunity, if NI get a border poll Scotland will push for a referendum.
We are living in interesting times.
A very good showing for the Alliance party would be interesting. Long is a very good politician and would be great to see her maybe as deputy 1st minister with Michelle O'Neill.

Unionism desperately needs some decent moderates. I was listening to a popcast the other day with a loyalist socialist Councillor (cant remember his name for the life of me) and he was commenting on how let down the loyalists community feel by the DUP. They only ever see their MLA's and MP's a week or so before an election.

It was his view that most of the street violence this year was out of boredom rather than to do with the protocol but that there are anonymous social media accounts trying to influence these 14 and 15 year olds into violence.

EDIT here is the podcast

Echo chamber podcast

BBC News - Brexit: NI Protocol is lawful, High Court rules

So the Protocol is legal which apparently now the likes of Hoey and Allister are saying proves their point...

Is it just me or is this issue the ultimate coming together of Brexit and misleading twitter style politics?

Any bets on how this will end?

Yes...A united Ireland.

This has got to be the most Northern Ireland thing ever.

It is impossible to believe it would be tolerated anywhere else in the world.

Absolutely unbelievable.

Same too if you've seen any of Jamie Bryson's twitter posts recently highlighting great local cultural statements (aka bonfires).

Love it.

They are the gift that keeps on giving.

When you have run out of both road and logic.

Introduce the anti-semitism card.

Sure if they part the sea on their way that'll cut the costs on the Boris tunnel/bridge project. The bold Brandon playing 3D chess there.
Charlton Heston holding a Tesco salami aloft like a beacon on the shores of Kintyre.
