What's over?
The ROI is a valued and equal member of the EU

Of course it is but Boris has changed the game, completely. While the EU27 were all in agreement and May was swallowing the Withdrawal Agreement then the EU, its Individual countries and the ROI had a common cause. That has now changed. While the Eastern countries within the EU may not be bothered one way or the other, some of the major countries will be getting a bit twitchy and will be looking at preserving their trade with the U.K. The EU institution itself wants the £39Bn, and I wouldn’t take bets against France putting pressure on the ROI to bend and the EU in order to preserve trade and fishing access. Come the 11th Hour and providing the Remainers haven’t shot the U.K. in the foot again, Boris and his no deal strategy will elicit changes or there will simply be no deal. I believe that people in the U.K. now are preparing and steeling themselves for one, I don’t believe for a moment that anyone else within the EU27 will be prepared.....

I doubt if the EU are worried about the €39 billion
More that they cannot trust a UK government and need to protect the members who haven't left

And that's why the backstop was included in the first place.
It's an insurance clause in case the UK doesn't do what it promises to do.
Because, like it or not, the UK has past form on this. And it's only likely to increase with the new shower in charge

Can you give three examples of this past form in relation to the EU.....thanks......

The buffoon who now occupies 10 Downing St has still not had the courtesy to phone the Taoiseach to begin contact despite receiving a congratulatory message from him following his election nearly a week ago.

This is unprecedented behaviour and will not help Anglo-Irish relations one iota. Not that the arrogant prat Johnson gives a flying one.

What would be the purpose of the contact. Boris has stated what he’s going to do, your man has stated what the 27 will not do. So what’s the point.....
