Perhaps, but if we ignore a nationwide vote, why should anyone respect another nationwide vote......GE or Other......this is the dodgy ground we are on.....

We are on dodgy ground and because we are then we need to have a real solution and not this uncontrolled drift to a no deal exit. I do not believe all the people understood the ramifications of voting to leave, there were untruths told throughout on both sides, no mentioned the border in the run up to the vote. I did know that the referendum was not binding on the government, I understood that perfectly. If it is now a choice of splitting the country completely and the very real prospect of a return to violence on the streets then I would choose stepping back and not now allowing the referendum to be binding and then going for a General Election with all parties setting out their manifestos for remain or leave. Then move forward from there.
Everyone understood that when the referendum was held that the result was not binding on the government, we all knew that at the time. If a referendum is held and then not acted upon then the people have the opportunity to vote that party into opposition at the next GE. That is as good a form of representative democracy as we can redeem from this debacle.

If there’s a hard border, most likely nationalists.
If there’s a United Ireland, unionists.
Either way, your greedy vote is well on its way to wrecking a peace that a generation worked hard to build. And you didn’t give NI a second thought.

Your first two lines at least admit the truth.
I disagree that my vote was in any way ‘greedy’, my vote was for the future of our country and the future of my children and granddaughter, right or wrong. I didn’t give NI a second thought and I’ve freely admitted this. But if our future is to be determined by nationalist terrorist actions or the threats of ‘returning to violence’ by a small group of nutters then what is our future, what other demands must we give in to........

A Brexit party MEP has been heavily criticised after he called for foreign fishing vessels to be “given the same treatment as the Belgrano”, the Argentinian cruiser sunk by the Royal Navy with the loss of hundreds of lives.

Farage, [... ] said he would “be forced to don khaki, pick up a rifle and head for the front lines”

I’m not sure how many times the U.K. government has to say there will not be a hard border, nor the fact that it has even been written into UK law. So just who is putting a hard border up........l

Which law prevents a hard border on the island of Ireland?

Nicely deflected, excellent usage of whataboutery.......

Powerful stuff.

On what basis do you say that the future will be better for your family? All I have seen points to negative economic impacts and less opportunities for travelling and working in Europe.

We have the Tory leadership race dominated by who's going to offer the biggest bailout to our companies affected by Brexit. How do you spin that positively? Where does the idea come from that it will be better in the future?

Probably not, but what does the Republic want......
Doubt they'll have much of a say as they come under EU legislation.Plus the lines of Polish workers landing in Dublin then queuing to walk into the UK may become a bit of a nuisance.

I thought one reason that leavers wanted us to quit the EU was so that we would have "control over our borders". No border = no control, surely?
