Excellent piece on the likelihood of a border poll with Mary Lou and Sophie Long. Well worth a listen

I’m not sure how many times the U.K. government has to say there will not be a hard border, nor the fact that it has even been written into UK law. So just who is putting a hard border up........l
Ah, the old 'it wasn't me guv' defence.

There will have to be a border after Brexit. The UK knows it, the EU knows it, and the dogs in the street know it. You can't have an open frontier between two markets one of which is in an economic union and one which isn't.

This situation is entirely the making of those who want Brexit, and the fact that you claim that you won't "put it up" is another example of your complete abdication of responsibility for the mess you have created.

Not really up to the UK government.

This is a point I have tried to make a few times in this thread as @peteblue may recall.

Brexit will of course necessitate a border of some description and after almost 100 years of the U.K. enforcing one in Ireland it is disingenuous to refuse responsibility for what their political decision will reinforce.

This period of Irish history will be known as the catalyst for major constitutional change, of that I have no doubt.

You are just making things up and diverting now, any chance of answering my question.......
Yes. Just as you are happy for England to veto the decision of Scotland.
Negotiating as part of the EU gives Ireland the upper hand over the UK.
Why on earth would we give that up.
By your logic NI should negotiate on their own and not as part of the UK.
It’s not diversion , mere facts Pete.

And your ‘it’s all your fault’ is a complete abrogation of dealing with the situation.......but don’t worry you’ve got 27 v 1 on your side....that’ll be a great comfort .......

If there’s a hard border, most likely nationalists.
If there’s a United Ireland, unionists.
Either way, your greedy vote is well on its way to wrecking a peace that a generation worked hard to build. And you didn’t give NI a second thought.

There's no excuse for a return to violence in either of those scenarios, by either group.

If it happens then the only people to blame will be the loyalists or nationalists who carry out the violent acts.

I don't think it's that likely mind you. It's different times thankfully.

Yea. I agree but I think destabilizing the environment that’s fostering peace is irresponsible. Voting to leave the EU without knowing how was irresponsible. Just my opinion.
