Current Affairs Irish Border and Brexit

Indeed.

The DUP has forced the issue of Irish unity, put on the long finger by the GFA and subsequently out of the immediate mindset of Nationalists as no one could actually notice much difference between one side of the border and the other thanks to the EU, right back to the top of the agenda.

And the irony is NI was offered the absolute best of both worlds in the November 2017 agreement between May and the EU.....remaining in both the UK and the EU.

The DUP weren’t having it....so the turmoil continues.

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

( and it could still have that deal under the new agreement.....most likely will in actual fact because if it comes to May’s deal or no Brexit, the ERG will abandon Samuel A and his band of useful idiots and vote the former through)
The DUP will definitely fall in behind a deal now. You only have to look at the change in their language to see the inevitable roll over.

And as I said, when the time comes to return to Stormont the zeitgeist will have firmly changed and the favourable SF power sharing deal will no longer be on the table.

Interestingly Barnier has put the 'NI only' backstop is back on the agenda tonight. Needless to say, S.A.Tache & Co have already ruled it out. But with the deadline approaching, possibly some in Westminster might finally realise that it is the only way to solve this conundrum.

It's May's last chance to call the DUP's bluff. Hopefully she will face the music and take it. Probably not though. :(

Just bung them a few more million quid. The DUP love their little bungs.

I'm absolutley astounded at how Paisley has slimed his way back into the Commons after what he's been up to.

It won’t happen. The EU know this. It’s the 11th hour negotiating ploy. We should be very blunt and tell him to sod off. He wants to be the next Juncker and while he wishes to be seen as tough, he also knows that if he screws this up and a no deal happens, he’s toast......

With apologies to Lewis Carroll........this reads like an extract from Peter’s Adventures in Wonderland :pint2:

This of course is the deal May agreed with the EU in November 2017 and it represents the best deal for Northern Ireland and had Samuel A and his merry men and weemen not been the bigoted blowhards they are would have grabbed with both hands and allowed their mates in the ERG and our own dear Peter to proceed serenely to their red letter day on March 29th.

Namely remaining in both the UK and the EU.

I wish or heck someone would offer that deal to the People’s Republic of Liverpool :(

S.A.Tache & the rest of the DUP cronies have decided that tomorrow they will vote against the measure to rule out a no deal Brexit which would cause untold damage to their own electorate. Utterly shameful behaviour from this bunch of cretins. Hopefully they will never be forgiven.

Sadly Mark, they will be.

They will wave a Union Jack and their voters will fall into line,

That is why they behave with such impunity.....there are no political consequences for them.

In the NI election caused by their corruption in the RHI case, their vote slipped very little.

It’ll never get through though. I’d be surprised if there are many more than 50 votes in favour of no deal.
