how's he wrong?
If there's no tariffs on goods heading south to north, what's to stop all these commodities being imported tariff free to the UK via the land border with the RoI?

What has been said is that goods flowing from ROI into NI will have no duties. So great, NI can get goods from the EU without duty and goods from the RoW with no or reduced duty. This is great for NI, if the goods stay in NI. The goods flowing into NI cannot then just be shipped across to the mainland because they have a country of origin, and goods not produced in NI will be subject to tariffs. The computer systems have all this logged. I’ve tried before to explain all this to you guys but you didn’t want to know. The U.K. will not put a hard border between NI and ROI, only the EU will do that......

True, you have said that and I suppose there are systems to determine the origin of goods however, if everything needs to be rigorously checked, that pretty much amounts to a border down the Irish Sea . I guess I didn’t think the UK would play so fast and loose with the border. I don’t see this solution working out well at all

So NI will have a different status to the rest of the UK?

The whole point of May looking to include the WHOLE of the UK in the backstop was because she accepted the DUP's demand that NI be treated the exact same as GB and that there would be no checks on goods entering GB from NI as that would amount to a border down the Irish Sea. You can't have it both ways.

Well, Peter.

Happen you will admit now, even if only to yourself, that Northern Ireland is not Northern England and that it requred a much different version of Brexit than we do.

The Tory proposal yesterday finally acknowledges this fact in public and they are no longer maintaining the fiction that it is.

You reckon May reads our little forum?

Because ol’ Khal has been telling you this for months :)

You’re welcome

And just think.....happen the DUP hadn’t shot themselves in the foot and attempted to shoot their province in the head back in November/December 2917, Ulster would have had the sweetheart deal Mr. Barnier and Mrs. May agreed upon and Great Britain would have had its own Utopian Brexit come March 29th.

No. Serious question, when do the families of IRA terrorist murders get their justice. Or does justice only go one way. Don’t trivialise others sufferings......
Insensitive in one thread by bringing this up now trying to derail a thread about a border. Shame on you.

It is not insensitive. It is only sensitive to those that support the IRA murderers being allowed to escape justice. If someone murders then they should be prosecuted.......
