I'm not sure we can say that at all. The campaign had no mention of difficulties ahead. All of the messaging was that a great future lay ahead and that this future would be easy and quick to achieve.

That’s just rubbish Bruce, Everyman and his dog pointed out how bad it would be. I’d worked out that we would have a reduction in GDP. We knew it and voted for it....

I think it’s quite interesting. However, I would have thought that the EU will go apoplectic with the thought of the USA having a voice in determining what type of border will exist between the EU and another country. Obviously the U.K. can always take note of USA views, but in this case they align as the U.K. does not want a hard border. It’s as I’ve said before, the only people who want one are the EU. I think the Irish will be getting their ears bent from Brussels, but we’ll see......

Source? The EU have stated from the start that they do no want a hard border in Ireland, hence the backstop. The only politicians championing a no-deal brexit and ergo a hard border, reside in Westminster.

May be offensive to you but is my point of view. Is my point of fire any less than yours?

If, for example, you say something abhorrently racist, it is unquestionably your point of view but that doesn't mean it carries the same weight as a non-racist point of view.

What you said, essentially equating nationalists and people from ROI with terrorism was pretty ignorant and offensive. Respectful opinions command respect, not hateful ones.

Pete I’ve got to disagree with you . I’m not going to challenge that you knew , I’ve no reason to doubt you did and you some across most of the issues . However the leave campaign was pushing milk and honey and a lot of people were talking about great life would be . Talk of problems and issues were simply dismissed as project fear , now as its developed its gone grim it’ll be amazing to a short term hit to ok well it’ll be difficult for a period .

I get and I’ve accepted leave won but it’s not fair to reinvent history , a lot of people bought into the great bright future . Just because you got it doesn’t mean they did and I certainly know people that bought into so to dismiss it seems a little cheap to be honest .

That it’s to be tough seems to be universally accepted by both sides now , I certainly don’t think that was the case a couple of years ago . Although obvious we may continue to disagree .

European Council President Donald Tusk has said that the EU27 will make no new offer in the Brexit negotiations.

Speaking at joint press conference with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar in Brussels,Mr Tusk said: "I've been wondering what that special place in hell looks like, for those who promoted Brexit, without even a sketch of a plan how to carry it out safely." Mr Tusk said that the EU27 had decided in December that the Withdrawal Agreement was "not open for renegotiation". He said: "I hope that tomorrow we will hear from Prime Minister May a realistic suggestion on how to end the impasse in which the process of the orderly withdrawal of the UK from the EU has found itself following the latest votes in the House of Commons." Mr Tusk said the Irish border issue and the need to preserve the peace process remained the EU's "top priority". "The EU is first and foremost a peace project," he said. "We will not gamble with peace or put a sell-by date on reconciliation. This is why we insist on the backstop."

In a message to Mrs May, Mr Tusk said: "Give us a deliverable guarantee for peace in Northern Ireland and the UK will leave the EU as a trusted friend. "I hope that the UK Government will present ideas that will both respect this point of view and at the same time command a stable and clear majority in the House of Commons. "I strongly believe that a common solution is possible and I will do everything in my power to find it."

Fair comment by Tusk on the Irish peace process. I fully agree with him.

But there's a few people in Greece who'd give them an argument about the EUs principal aim being about continuing peace and tranquility in a member nation. They broke that country and put their population in the gutter.

I'm anti the Brexiteer loonies, but let's not forget the recent past and the humbug that Brusslels boot boys are capable of. Their foremost strategy is to keep together a bloc of nations that services major corporations and acts like a praetorian guard for Washington and NATO amongst its eastern member states, always seeking to nibble away at the Russian Empire when it can do so.

The Greeks weren't paying taxes and were cooking the books

The EU used debt run up by the Greek government to smash through their 'reforms'. The Greek people paid for the crisis with their health and sometimes their lives. It was a monstrous act of terrorism carried out by the EU....and the treatment of the Greeks made Brexit all the more appealing to Britons, btw.
