@peteblue
Here's another solution.
Ireland leaves the EU and rejoins the UK on condition that the UK changes it's name to Ireland and Westminster moves to Dublin.
Hey presto, you're out of the EU with no border concerns.
Obviously Michael D would become the new King of Ireland and all her territories.

Gets my vote.......but could we be called Great Ireland.......

I see the ROI are now trying to get the Irish American politicians to oppose a no deal. But surely the EU wouldn’t let them down, would they......I wonder how the Eu will view the ROI enlisting USA assistance........

I mentioned this earlier in the thread to you mate, Ireland would use the USA at some point, the powers that be in America have to cultivate the Irish American vote. They also have skin in the game around the Good Friday Agreement. The USA has always and needs to have a big interest in Irish issues.

Never hurts that their president has financial interests in the ROI as well. ;)

I think it’s quite interesting. However, I would have thought that the EU will go apoplectic with the thought of the USA having a voice in determining what type of border will exist between the EU and another country. Obviously the U.K. can always take note of USA views, but in this case they align as the U.K. does not want a hard border. It’s as I’ve said before, the only people who want one are the EU. I think the Irish will be getting their ears bent from Brussels, but we’ll see......

The UK had to beg the USofA to help back in 1939, 1940 and 1941.
Remember that...

I’m not quite sure what your point is. I would willingly join with the USA rather than remain with the EU. We know we can count on the USA and we know we will be stitched up by the EU, so what point are you making......

I would have a different take on it mate, if the USA have a political affirmation for the ROI of stance, it does nothing but reinforce Europes hand in leverage, if Europes position is Irelands its all good.
