Let’s not forget that the EU intend to ‘harmonise’ those tax breaks for the benefit of Germany and France, while the U.K. will be free to be as competitive as they wish. This is all part of trying to keep a grip on the U.K. for as long as possible.....

I wish them luck with that ha we might have our own Irexit if that was the case! We are absolute cowboys.

You are right of course, and bullish in your out look, the counter balance is you will be trading more in isolation then as part of the single market in an economy in the west Europe with no easy access to Europe and taffirrfs and red tape to Europe. Its a huge logistical blow for existing and possible future business in London, not to mention currency.

i tend to agree Europe is doing its best to torpedo the economy, the longer this goes on the weaker the Uk economy is getting, the less it can be as competitive as you say and more the business vulchers have leverage as the UK need increases.

Last time I checked the referendum was a UK vote. I didn't have a separate NI ballot paper. The country voted to leave. So that's democracy.
Last time I checked it was not as simple as that as you will know. The rights of people in NI who consider themselves as Irish to remain EU citizens have to be taken into account which is why we have a problem. It is not as black and white as you portray it in true Gregory Campbell style. I hope your Irish passport doesn't get delayed in the post.

That’s too simplistic Tim.

NI has dual nationality and a guaranteed right therefore to European citizenship for 50% of it’s population who identify as Irish.

We have always been an exception to the rule and we can’t realistically be compared to any other region which took part in the vote.

To disenfranchise the majority remain vote as being simply on the losing side in a general UK election is ignoring the elephant in the room.

There are no passport checks between Belfast and London. Except the odd Ryanair flight I've been on. But it's not legally enforceable. Not that it matters. It's no big deal and doesn't bother me.

It's purely the trading issue. As long as their is some form of customs backstop, there is always the risk of barriers to trade. Especially with the EU trying to punish us. I don't trust them at all.
a few months ago you said you'd be alright with NI remaining in both the UK and the EU customs union.

A simple bilateral agreement between May and Varadkar to keep the status quo solves every one of the issues I've heard over what feels like the last decade. It baffles me that they aren't sitting down together. And they shouldn't even be talking to our local politicians during the process either. DUP/SF couldn't even set department budgets or work out a "subsidy" scheme which paid out more than you paid in would overspend! I don't think they are equipped for Brexit negotiations!

but there already is a bilateral agreement.

I did not vote for a 75% immigration clampdown on EEA nationals in the U.K. I did not see it on the ballot form, nor did I read it in any documentation. Can you show me where this was publicised please.....
Well, the first and most gormless answer is "I voted leave and we won" but only idiots would assume that only the borders of three constituent countries of the four comprising the UK would count in a yes/no referendum. You lot voted for "taking back control of our borders". It's just a shame that you and your like we're kidded by the government of the day as much as you are still being kidded. Given that you voted 'without all of the facts', do you wish for a second vote?
