Well, it would be a massive kick in the balls in Manchester United won the CL but we finished 4th at there expense.

We'll have to finish 3rd just incase lads.

Not a conspiracy theorist but thought it was dubious how utd got the easiest opponent in the CL draw probably know they are ****e and won't be getting CL this season

Cannot believe there are 48 out of 175 people who think we're finishing 3rd or higher.

We're doing great, but let's be realistic here. We'll have to keep this excellent form up all season (no bad patches) to even come close to doing that.

Fourth place for Everton football club would be an absolutely outstanding achievement dwarfing any achieved by any other English club for a good while now. We're a good team, but we've spent a good bit less than [Poor language removed] all and 99 times out of 100 that tells.

We are definitely in the race for fourth now, but we have stiff opposition and we're not halfway through the season. You look at our squad and see we've got the quality, but lots can go wrong yet.

I don't want to be sounding negative, but expectations seem to have soared unbelievably high.

We talk about finishing 4th every season though really, but this year we genuinely look like we could. I think the high expectations are good, you can tell the team believe and want it this year.

To be honest though, say we did fall a bit short I'd still be so proud of everton and Martinez for what he's proved this year already

We finish 3rd.....or higher.

The RS finish 4th.

And United win the CL......

The Samaritans would need to set up a direct hotline to RAWK.

I'm saying no we could well be top 2 come the new year and everyone is just assuming Chelsea and Man city are going to click in to gear week in week out and it's entirely possible this season they wont due to the need to continually rotate their starting 11 to keep everyone happy. At the moment (and there's no reason this should stop) us and the ****e are the 2 teams looking to be more than the sum of our parts everyone knows exactly where they have to be at all times and unlike previous season we have a couple of players who can produce the moment of magic to change a boring draw into a stunning victory (much like last night and indeed the West Ham game where Baines rescued us). I just think something even more special than fourth could happen this year and I think that's partly what Martinez is talking about when he says he wants the players to be more arrogant, to shoot from places they wouldn't have dared to under Moyes and to go in to every game thinking they are going to win because you know what for the first time in ages they really can win every game they show up for.

Agreed. If we keep anything like this form up for most of the rest of the season and keep the football sexy, I'll be immensely proud of them all. Brilliant effort so far.

I would take it but I have this sneaky gut feeling we may yet surprise and finish higher. We are a different team already to the one that started the season and we are getting better and more confident as each week passes. A good January and anything is possible.

Okay, I was encouraged to start this poll following a discussion in another thread where I made the following statement regarding our ambitions this year...

So there you go, would you accept 4th place now or do you wish for more? Thoughts and comments...

Idiots? That's a bit harsh, no doubt that sort of suggestion is why you get so much stick on here.

What about this.

Why don't Everton try and win the League mate. Then we're sorted. If you ain't going for the League, then you're some sort of football Politician / Strategist.

9 Titles. If we made that 10, or even came close, the new World will know our history.

And we want that, otherwise why do we sing?

What's our name?

Bang on, well said.
