The worst aspect of the game was how we started, overall we were the better team and on another day with a better ref, we would've won. We are far from great but Hull have put in some decent performances of late, people need to get a grip. Barkley was better and that's a big plus for me.

Apart from the first 10 minutes and a 10 minute spell in the 2nd half when they scored, that was actually the most dangerous we have looked in a long time.

Chance wise -

Coleman hit the post
Lukaku hit the bar
Barry and Barkley went close 1st half
Numerous shots blocked
Barkley clean through 2nd half
DCL should have won it at the end with the free header
Mirallas looked like his old self again
Barkley will hopefully get some confidence from bagging an equaliser
More minutes for Davies and DCL

Negatives last night were the performances of Jagielka and Barry. Really sloppy start from them

Not saying a point is acceptable because Hull are awful. But we are 7th, that's where we are likely to finish. At least there's been a slight improvement since utd at home when it comes to work rate and the youngsters are being given some minutes as the old guard will be gradually phased out.

Do you not understand the concept of 'three at the back'? It allows your wing backs to concentrate more on driving forward and is a positive attempt to win a game. And it could have worked.
Yes, really positive in the 87th minute, the time when subs are brought on to run the clock down. I'd agree with you if he'd have changed formation 15/20 mins earlier.

I've personally stopped fuming after 3 years of this.

I've come to accept the fact we aren't very good and await to see if the new board want to do something about it or if the team I cheer for will just tread water for the foreseeable. Least we know not to get hopes up and just be happy for a win rather than fume when we can't beat the teams at the bottom.

Ironic as martinez could only beat the teams at the bottom last year, now we can't.

We aren't very good, but I thought the second half in particular was a big improvement on our performances since mid September.
Haven't checked the results but we must be beating some teams as we are now 7th whereas Martinez couldn't get us to the top half.

We aren't very good and Koeman knows this, the look on his face and the constant shaking of his head last night( he doesn't hide his feelings well) tells me he's starting to realize ( if he didn't already know ) what a massive job he's got to turn this club around, and it wont be done this window nor I feel the summer window, the youngsters and possibly Guye (sp) apart you could argue the rest will be gone within 18 months, the man needs time to get it right, lets see where we are this time next season then I think we can have a better idea of where the club is heading.

Players looked like they were running in treacle last night , the team refused to run with the ball and looked out on their feet after 10 minutes. Not sure how Koeman preparde them for this game, maybe hill runs all week. Pitch looked like a potato field which didn't help.

To be honest it strikes me as we have been struggling yet all the teams below us are as well which has kept us in a semi false position in the league. Granted if we are there in may then great, job done. But our wins are bordering on the terrible at times, certainly the arsenal win saved our arse's in that regard

There seems to be some mad forgetfulness when thinking of Martinez' time at Everton. Especially last season.

We couldn't beat anyone. Wherever they were in the league.
Most of our wins by Feb last season was against the bottom 3. Think the exception was Norwich but then Sunderland looked dead by Christmas anyway.

But something like from September to March our only league wins were against Newcastle villa and Sunderland. The fact we played them more than once in that time meant points on the board.

Pretty sure we got d*cked at Sunderland. Sadly I can't remove this game from my head.

A few thoughts after last night...

Koeman has to be given the time and he will be and it will take time, as someone said on the stream I watched last night
to clear out the aged, and the ageing.

Davies could be captain in three years time, Holgate a fixture and D C-L playing regularly alongside Rom or another top striker and with Ross and/or another playmaker (aka Fabregas) pulling all the strings... But, a classy, top quality goalie is of paramount importance.

Seen enough of Enner Valencia now, thanks. He has a good heart, good energy, scares no-one.
Rather nice to see Mirallas running purposefully at defenders again.

Davies will (surely) be in all the while Gana's gone to the Afcon.

One essential thing right now though is to identify a captain who the team, the fans, the whole club can identify as someone who visibly (gives a **** ) cares about the standards and expectations on the pitch in an evolving team.

With nothing but respect it cannot be Jags or Barry going forward.

Of this squad it should be Coleman as we need what he shows for the RoI... a fist-clencher, a badge kisser.
Visible pride cos in the end all season that hasn't been there.

Once we woke up last night, in patches we played okay.
