Howard Kendall RIP

Personally I am not sure about naming a stand after Howard. Sure there needs to be something to commemorate him, but I am a traditionalist and would prefer things the way they are.

Appreciate others have equally valid alternative views.
I agree I would prefer a statue of the Holy trinity as you can not take one player out of that majestic of a midfield, To me the best Trio I have ever seen play football - they should all be honoured together as they were on the pitch - just my views being I am overjoyed that I managed to see them play together in today's game now they would have all been used in the England team together no doubts about it - the fact that HK was overlooked was an utter disgrace RIP Howard as a Manager you proved them all wrong down at the FA anyway!

While I certainly won't "nay-say" if the majority of folk want to name the Park End after him, personally I'd leave naming a stand after him until/unless we move grounds. Then I'd have the Howard Kendall stand.

Otherwise it could be argued that Dixie Dean should have the main stand named after him - his family are still regulars at Everton.

What I mean is, where do we stop on this one? I'm not totally against it, but I'm not really super-mad on the idea. As Esk says, maybe another form of tribute, perhaps a statue like the Dixie one.

On the other hand he is the most successful manager, so I can see the attraction. I'm easy either way on this one, basically.

A few people have said this now. I agree a Holy Trinity statue alongside that of Dixie would be fitting.

Just read HK was last English manager to win a European trophy ?
No idea if that right like, but very cool if so.

aye, and the 2nd-last English manager to win the league (Howard Wilkinson is the very last). In the Prem era you'd be hard pushed to find any sort of trophy won by an English manager...but that's for another thread.

just been going through Echo's 10 Kendall Moments, the anecdote of how he bagged Gary Ablett some sizable extra pocketmoney is priceless lol

Read the Ablett story in his book. Proper Everton that.
