All right lads, only just heard this news.

Absolutely gutted. When I seen the news I was instantly taken back to the 80`s. I remember a time when Howard built one the greatest sides I`ve seen and one of the best periods of football rivalry I`ve been through as a red. Southall, Ratcliffe, Reid, Sheedy, Gray, Sharp, great players (some of them would be considered world class in todays game). I remember Sharps screamer at the Kop end, the 86 cup final, Everton winning the league, a great period in the top flight for this city.

Rest in Peace Howard.
Thanks

Lads any of you who are as old as me will remember in the early 1980s Howard played himself a few times because we were short in midfield. I am old enough to remember that but was too young to remember the harvey/Ball/Kendall era.

For a boy like me who grew up in the famine of the 1970s seeing Howard, one of the Trinity, actually on the pitch in a starting shirt was like seeing a God....a visitation from the legendary past when we were great......and guess what he brought that back for us over the coming years. Howard gave glory and success to all of us 70s kids who grew up on tales of the greats and then actually saw them....thanks to him.

A privilege to have the man associated with us.

I remember Howard coming on ; play used to slow down when he he had the ball. He was a class above the players even then, for the short time he was on the pitch. It's a sad day.

Rovers fan here. Condolences to Howards family, friends and Evertonians.
We loved him for the 2 great seasons we had him. Rovers were a dying old Lancashire club when Howard took over. Near bottom of the 3rd division. He got us promoted and very nearly promoted again to the old 1st division. I for one will never forget promotion night at Gigg Lane. The old wooden stands were swaying that night. Howard and the team celebrating on the pitch with the fans. Howard gave us our pride back.
He was and always will be loved at Ewood.

Winter of 84 leaflets wanting him and carter out ,crowds down to below 20,000.
I was standing in the St End with my mates dad mid week, freezing if memory serves my right it was a bad winter, said to him getting fed up with this ,nobody is going anymore were crap, he said Tony ,its nights like tonight that make you appreciate the good times and they will come believe me; and remember it,and keep the faith
Little did I know it was around the corner and one man Kendall was the reason it came true.
A Bit of Everton died today . But till my dying day I will be crateful to what he gave me in memories.
My hero rip

It's been an absolutely terrible day for us today. After hearing of his death I had a deep feeling we'd lose today as well. Not like it was a personal thing for the players or anything I just think it set a cloud over the club on the day.

Anyway I might be wide of the mark here but was he involved in a video of what got widely accepted as our song for the fa cup final under Moyes?

This is the song

I might be wrong but vague memory pictures when that first come out there were a group singing it with him in a pub. If it exists and anyone can find it id love to see it.

Sorry to bump but I'm sat up thinking that it was deffo him singing to this and it's brilliant. Anyone know what I'm on about? It might not even be him but I'm sure it was.

It's a song wrote by blues on the run up to the fa cup final under moyes and whoever made it first did the song in a pub and I'm 90% sure Kendall was there singing along. It was ace.

Don't know if this link has been posted but there are some awesome pics of the Legend...

Im shocked tbh.It was only a few days ago i was reading his column in the Liverpool Echo.Howard achievements as player and manager of this great football club speaks for itself and he always won or lost with class and dignity. We need to get a statue of the man put up outside Goodison asap.Howard came back to us twice in the 90's as manager and they were tough times and the club was being run like a joke shop by inept chairmen but Howard tried his best to still make us happy. And by god he made us happy with our derby victories during his second and third comings as manager as well as dumping Liverpool out of the FA Cup in 1991 and tearing Man United a new one at Old Trafford in the 1992/1993 season.Thank you Howard for rasing Evertonians spirits and lifting our hearts as a player and manager.Life can be hard and the joy you're teams gave to Evertonians was a release from that hardship.Im sad that you're no longer around but you're up there in heaven with Bally Labby and Dixie now.Thank you Howard for everything and please god we'll have a day out in Wembley and Phil Jagielka will raise our first trophy in 20 years in your honour.God bless you Howard.
