Current Affairs How do we tackle terrorism?

It does doesn't it, but we live in chilling times, facing a implacable, faceless, chilling enemy and the cure may turn out to be worse than the disease...and, if we leave it too long, don't find a way to defeat them it may soon be beyond us.
Now that IS chilling
Jesus Christ.

I knew you didn't have a clue. It's easy to just criticise isn't it ?.......
Hello mate, care to highlight what you disagree with and why?

Extra marks for a pie chart.

Penalty points for regurgitating failed western foreign policy.

@peteblue advocating the use of airstrikes on human shields, the sale of arms to states that fund terrorism, the removal of regimes without any effective long term strategy and not engaging with regional leaders.

That's how you fight terrorism folks.

Jesus Christ.

No not really. People on here discussed how to deal with the terrorism currently playing out in the UK, you just did a sneering reply and still haven't said how you would deal with it.......

Hello mate, the post where you said I didn't have a clue outlines how I would deal with it.

In handy bullet point form for ease of use.

If you could explain why you disagree that would be great - we could then move the discussion forward.

Also...
You point out where I have ever written that or come back and apologise......telling lies is no way to behave....
Your response to how I would deal with the issue was that I didn't have a clue, which would indicate that you disagree with me - in the absence of an explanation I am left to believe that you advocate doing the opposite of what I suggested.

The post above however, would indicate that you do, in fact, agree with me.

Which is it Pete?

Aa a suggestion, maybe listen to you own advice and actually make a contribution rather than continuing to make vague and evasive posts.

Your points were generalistic and of a long term 'big picture' variety pointing out what you believe we have done wrong in the past. You have not posted anything about how today's immediate problems in the U.K. could be addressed. So did you find all the stuff that you threw against me or should I take it that this is the nearest I will get to an apology.......

That's an interesting viewpoint you have there Pete - the casual dismissal of having anything to learn from past failures, the arrogance so scarily reminiscent of that shown by western government and the refusal to admit that mistakes have been made...

Maybe one day we will actually get to hear your own ideas.

I posted mine on how to deal with today's UK terrorist issue in this very thread, you didn't and still haven't.......

I hope the actual politicians, have a more coherent strategy in mind going forward, than us lot on here.
This thread is a microcosm of society (world) and there seems little will to concede ground, from either 'side', in how this is best dealt with.
It's a pity, because there are common values that can be used as a basis for how we remove this intransigence.

Watched a show on CNN last light called the United Shades of America about small town Muslims here.

It was a good watch. Going back to @orly's take, education would go a long way. Muslims are not the problem...neither is Islam as a whole.

There are like 26 different teachings of Islam and most of them are just like the numerous teachings of Christianity.

There is an extreme part that exists though...but why? The healing of extremism comes when everyone takes a bath in the frandly waters.

Until the perceived bully (the West) takes appropriate actions towards peace and harmony, the perceived bullied will continue to flex their muscles and nothing will change.

I agree it hasn't helped. But the Corbyn argument is too simplistic. These IS types will keep trying to attack us regardless of what we do, and there's nothing to say things would be vastly better if we'd acted differently.

Yup. Sweden wasn't involved in any "war on terror" and they've been attacked several times over the course of the last year or so.
