Current Affairs How do we tackle terrorism?

... because they still control territory mate, and that's the basis of their ideology and propaganda. That's why you have people "joining ISIS" - they're moving to physical bases to fight. Because of the idea of a caliphate.

So in your opinion if we followed through with what was suggested in that article and went to a full on war and occupation, you don't think that it would breed the next iteration (and likely even more dangerous) of extremism?

I'm not sure you're grasping what a logical fallacy is mate.

You're talking about a hypothetical scenario which will is very unlikely to happen.

Yep. But sometimes a logical fallacy actually exposes the root fact of a futile situation. Like an extreme analogy.

Ergo, we accept said position of the foe, and deal with it. Or live with it.

Think that is the last thing we should do.

If its explained to children, they should'nt be scared.

I know quite a few muslims and its the womans choice if they want to wear a veil or not. I know thats not the case with the likes of the Taliban or ISIS though.

Whats " The cult "

Come on... even you know that's nonsense. The veil isn't a choice at all.... it's about as democratic as a Zimbabwean election.

I find the veil offensive to be honest as I see it as degrading to women much like most of Britain will.

Is that not what you're suggesting we do tho?
You're basically saying our actions are the root cause?

I haven't suggested anything, it's a ridiculously complex situation with no obvious or garaunteed solution. All I've tried to do is point out that atrocities have been committed by both sides over the past few decades.

Actually, the veil discussion is hardly ever mentioned or commented on over here.

Its a Brit thing. You want to wear one when its dead hot, (by our standards), fair play. Up to her. I aint going to pop over to a part of Bristol, that is a wonderfully diverse city, (80 languages in schools iirc), and tell a fella and his wife what to do or wear.

You find it offensive? What the hell has it got to with you?

edit. Thought this was a @ilikecheese post. If you arnt Merican. Soz

Its not from my experiences.

You also said Muslims would'nt goto the police, a few times as well. Today, it seems the man responsible for Monday night had been reported to the police on numerous occassions by his community.

I really did like your description of ISIS and the like as a gang @roydo. I think of the gangs here in the states and it's the same sort of mentality. It's a breeding ground for disillusioned poor people who feel like they are part of something. A brotherhood with a common goal/enemy....and ruthless killers. When I think of it that way I can easily see how there is an attraction for some young people to join that 'cause'. To have a purpose.
