Current Affairs How do we tackle terrorism?

I really did like your description of ISIS and the like as a gang @roydo. I think of the gangs here in the states and it's the same sort of mentality. It's a breeding ground for disillusioned poor people who feel like they are part of something. A brotherhood with a common goal/enemy....and ruthless killers. When I think of it that way I can easily see how there is an attraction for some young people to join that 'cause'. To have a purpose.

We don't have the same problem with gangs, we have them but the type you have would not be tolerated. You tolerate them and that's why you have them.....

Oh dear. Don't attempt to point fingers and claim that I am 'willing to excuse it' because you don't like an inconvenient answer. If governments are going to get involved in regime changes in other countries, and kill hundreds of thousands of people in the process, then there will be a reaction. If an occupying force is going to maim, kill and torture people in another country, there will be a reaction. As history has all too often shown.

Nice try. But your IRA apologist approach doesn't wash with me........

It's very hard to tackle the actions of somebody who is so angry, brainwashed and most likely mentally ill that they feel the need to do something like what we saw in Manchester.

However, these incidents are preventable and I think there is a hell of a lot of preventative work to be done in the UK.

How can it get to the point that a British national feels the need to blow themselves up and kill countless others with them? It isn't religious. It isn't ideological. It isn't done for any reason other than that person's own mental stability. That's the only way we can stop these attacks - by identifying who has the potential to do it.

Nobody except myself n @ToffeeTim seems to know n understand what we're dealing with here.
These loons don't have any negotiation agenda they want to create a calidifate ( apologies for spelling I don't speak Cult) n abuse women.
To be fair to my old nemesis in M15 n ScotlandYard they're actually doing a good job in stopping the Cult week n week out. Unfortunately the Cult are mainly underground and are spreading like a cancer all over secular Europe. Dublin is most likely a soft target for their finance n logistics unfortunately. We simply don't have the resources to deal with it without the help of the Feds n the MOD.

Firstly, when you refer to 'cult' what exactly are you referring to?

Secondly, how do you think it's tackled?

That is almost certainly an impossibility though - for a start, if human history tells us anything its that men can be persuaded to do anything, however horrific, if they think what they are doing is right.

Unfortunately this is correct, incredibly sad but correct......
