Current Affairs How do we tackle terrorism?

I should have clarified that better.

Get out of their affairs with military action.

Offer any and all humanitarian aid we can.

They don't care. The ISIS doctrine has been the eradication of western civilisation in an apocalyptic end of days scenario.

You can't negotiate with that, and ignoring it is daft IMO. It was ignoring it that allowed that caliphate to get a foothold.

If we "got out of their affairs", they'd simply dominate the region and establish a firm base of power to launch their attacks. Us waving the flag of surrender wouldn't result in them going "sound, just don't let it happen again".

So when Saddam and Iraq invaded Kuwait, we should have just stood back and wrung our hands at the Security Council......

Have we tried Paper Scissor Stone yet?

Oh, actually, the last one of them would mean we would have to go Paper every time, I guess.

So some military intervention is good then ? I'm sure we can easily explain that to the ISIS crew........how about a get together and a nice cup of tea.....

Defending a sovereign nation against an aggressor was the right thing to do. Being the aggressor and invading sovereign Iraq has fueled the fire of extremists and hatred of the West.

You do realize ISIS is a direct result of Western meddling in the Middle East, right?

As an American I can fully hold my hand up and accept responsibility for our failed policies over there.

Continuing to try to have a war with an ideology will only fan the flames of extremism.

Extremists are created when folks feel like they've been wronged.

It was not part of their blood,
It came to them very late,
With long arrears to make good,
When the Saxon began to hate.

They were not easily moved,
They were icy -- willing to wait
Till every count should be proved,
Ere the Saxon began to hate.

Their voices were even and low.
Their eyes were level and straight.
There was neither sign nor show
When the Saxon began to hate.

It was not preached to the crowd.
It was not taught by the state.
No man spoke it aloud
When the Saxon began to hate.

It was not suddently bred.
It will not swiftly abate.
Through the chilled years ahead,
When Time shall count from the date
That the Saxon began to hate.

But this current lot are detested, or were before he was shot, by Bin Laden.

It is far too simplistic to say "The West invaded Iraq and ISIS was the result".

It probably didnt help, but at the core, they are an organised criminal gang, albeit a large one, trading oil and drugs and heavens only knows what else, have Billions in the bank, and use the foot soldiers to perpetuate their influence and maintain their wealth.

They actually hate loads of other Muslims as well, remember.
