Current Affairs Her majesty the Queen

I remember seeing some of the stuff when the king in Thailand died and thinking it was a bit much. Pretty similar over here. Will be interesting to see whether the reaction is the same next time as Charles won't rule for such a long period of time.

The monarchy is absolutely huge over there though.

Every time I went to the courthouse in Samui for bail I used to walk straight over to the big portrait of the King and bow, the officials really liked that and were really friendly with me.

Also I used to bring cakes for all the girls on reception.

I was quite the courthouse hit to be honest.

It does still matter. They were both designed to help people.

This is pure opulence from a family who already legally exempt themselves from a lot financial constraints

And have to do pretty much what they are told. I might pop down the pub later. They cant.

I might sleep in till 10.00 tomorrow, if I want . They cant. They have to open a bridge or plant a tree.

Johnny Rotten/Lyden summed it up when asked about them. "I feel sorry for them. Life in a gilded cage". I wouldnt want to be one for all the tea in Tesco, let alone China.

There’s only 1 T in Tesco mate. Sorry to be pedantic, but every little helps x

Look the other way? Or just change the channel, watch something else?

And I said I was perplexed. Not annoyed, perplexed. Hence my questions.
How do you change the channel, ITV have already announced it’s going to be on every single ITV channel. Ghouls.

They can leave?

Lyden is about as punk as Coca-Cola

Anyway, I don't get how that justifies the expense. Plenty of people are in abusive relationships don't get a £100m funeral budget

And if they didnt spend money on the funeral, they wouldnt give it back, they would find something else to waste money on, is more my point.

Case in point.

I guess they can leave. Princess Anne pretty much did, her kids aint even HRH, and her daughter married a rugby player. But even so, they are immersed in the whole service thing. I can honestly get why folk dont like them, the status, the luxury, all of that.

But, we have a Royal Family. Like loads of places. Ours seems to be more high profile than others. Why? Not a clue. An heir, a spare, and their immediate kin would be fine by me.

Both points are valid. I suspect however, that many families dealing with poverty and deprivation, would opt for the inconvenience of the tree planting gig and unimaginable wealth.

Guess it's because of the commonwealth, it spans every continent etc

Tbh, I think this will be the final hurrah for them. I don't think people will warm to Charles at all and they may even know that

Not aimed at you Bruce, but do people really think if we abolished the monarchy their tax would go down? I mean do people really kid themselves that they pay for the Royal family?

It's not that tax will go down, I literally never said I'd take home £1 a month more. But as a tax payer, you have the right to be unhappy that it's not going to a place which needs it more
