It's not that tax will go down, I literally never said I'd take home £1 a month more. But as a tax payer, you have the right to be unhappy that it's not going to a place which needs it more

If I was a tax payer I would be more upset about the wastefulness that occurs outside of a Royal Family that actually contributes to the UK Economy.

And I am, but you can be upset at both. This is the threat about the royals so I am talking about them

Not aimed at you Bruce, but do people really think if we abolished the monarchy their tax would go down? I mean do people really kid themselves that they pay for the Royal family?

I didn't say that we pay for them, merely that they sit on huge lumps of wealth that they don't pay tax on. It's only recently that they've started paying income tax.

I might sleep in till 10.00 tomorrow, if I want . They cant. They have to open a bridge or plant a tree.

Johnny Rotten/Lyden summed it up when asked about them. "I feel sorry for them. Life in a gilded cage". I wouldnt want to be one for all the tea in Tesco, let alone China.

Most celebrities moan about having no private life. They wouldn't give it up for a second. The royal family have the power to change their status at any time. The Dutch royal family have day jobs and act like normal people.

The average Joe can't easily change being poor. I'm sure if the royal family were each asked "have a normal life or remain royalty?" they'd all choose the latter.

I've said before though, people still visit Versailles, despite France not having a royal family occupying it for a few hundred years. The idea that we need a sitting monarch in order to attract tourists doesn't seem to have much to support it. I mean it's not like the Colosseum is still hosting Champions League games, is it?

Both points are valid. I suspect however, that many families dealing with poverty and deprivation, would opt for the inconvenience of the tree planting gig and unimaginable wealth.

Maybe they would. Who knows. But maybe they have been watching all this on telly, and really feel part of the country. I dunno. Me personally, and it is a personal thing, would rather be poor and be able to what I want, rather than mega rich, but have to do what I am told. Perhaps there is still some scouse in me after all these years away.

I do agree here massively to an extent, Tory party is far more damaging to this country than the Queen. They've overseen an economic catastrophe in Brexit and have watched on as the country has become more reliant on foodbanks and council housing all whilst blagging their own taxes and expenses.

That said, the Queen and Royal Family in general couldn't give a hoot about the lower class of the country.

I have a blood donor appointment for Monday evening. I have O- blood, so I’m a “universal” donor (basically a super hero, just without a cape), so always give blood as often as I can. I am always getting emails / texts from Blood Donors, telling me “our stock of your blood type is critically low, please donate” etc.

Just got a message to tell me that due to the funeral (which is Monday morning), my appointment (which is Monday night), has been cancelled. Along with, I assume, all other donations for that day. Next available appointment in my area isn’t for another month or so.

So that’s another important medical thing being cancelled en-mass, to add to all the cancelled surgeries, check-ups, tests etc.

I've got to take mine out of my holiday allowance or work the hours at some point. My company already funded the one for the "platty joobz", they can't afford to fund the statey funez, too. Could well do without it tbh
