Gosling Gets England Call – News Archive – News – evertonfc.com – The Official Website of Everton Football Club

Dan Gosling has been called-up to the England Under-19s squad for this summer's European Championships in Ukraine.

The Everton midfielder was named in Brian Eastick's 18-man squad who will travel to Eastern Europe for the finals from July 21 until August 2.

England secured their spot in the last eight of the competition as winners of their Elite Qualifying group, following three consecutive wins over Bosnia-Herzegovina, Slovakia and Scotland.

Gosling last featured for the Under-19s set-up in March, playing a full 90 minutes in their goalless draw with the Czech Republic.

And having previously represented his country at both Under-17 and Under-18 level, Gosling has already made four appearances for the Under-19s age group. Yet the 19-year-old did not appear in the Young Lions' qualifying matches due to his Premier League and FA Cup commitments with Everton.

The Young Lions will face tournament hosts Ukraine, Slovenia and Switzerland in the group stage, where a top-two finish will secure progression to the semi-finals.

Be sure to keep an eye on evertonfc.com to see how Gosling and the Under-19s fare next month.

One popint is that no matter how good or bad Osman is he is not going to get any better. He jas developed as far as he can go.

...probably worked out the best for us and the player. Newcastle thought they were getting a bargain and lost out. The injury he got when playing for us was dreadful. I still blame him for having a touch instead of taking the shot on first time. The goalie's impact with his knee was sickening and it was obviously a baddun. He'll be a wealthy young man but it could've been so much better.

I do a bit of work in Plymouth and down there he's still lionised as one of the club's top quality products.

Makes you appreciate how fortunate we are to be born into a club with class and history!

No matter what happened with the transfer he's still idolised in my house for scoring against the red ****e....

Don't want to kick off the moyes baiting, but the injury problems start when Davey made him stay on the pitch when we had no subs left and he could barely walk
