The red ****e goal saves him a lot of bad feeling from me. Otherwise is be inclined to say he got what he deserved (not the injury mind, just the nose dive of a career)

Maybe he went for money, maybe he went because he had the ambition to try and prove himself as a centre mid in the Premier league.

Didn't work out for him because he wasn't good enough but at least he gave it a shot rather than being happy as a squad player at Everton.

I think he would have made a decent career here at Everton if he'd stayed. He lacked a lot in pace, but I thought he had the makings of a neat and tidy player. Another example of a player being influenced by a greedy agent and the poor handling of his contract situation by the club.

One bad tit who has self-sabotaged his own career.

I'd go along with this. He had an offer on the table form us didn't he? We had a gentleman's agreement that he'd sign, and he reneged on it.

DBRAG, I think his level at that point was squad player with potential - potential he may have realised with us, but quite clearly hasn't so far anyway. Currently sitting slightly above John Oster in the 'Everton youngster" rating. His derby goal aside, he did nothing else here.

He was a half decent squad player who may have gone onto to become a regular with us or may have gone onto to play in League 1.

Either way i don't think his move to Newcastle affected that, surely at a worse team than us it would have been easier for him to get game time?

The injury didn't help at all though. I don't think he ruined his career in the pursuit of a few extra grand though, i think he took a chance to progress his career as a centre midfielder but it didn't work out.

Even if he did move solely for money, the move itself wasn't a bad one, he could easily have stayed here, not fully recovered from the injury and ended up leaving the club for a lower league team.

It certainly looks like Gosling is goosed. He is not the first one to discover the 'grass is not always greener...........' and he won't be the last. Like Groucho I cannot feel sorry for him, he cheated us when he reneged on the deal be it in writing or not. He was never going to be more than a squad player here and seems likely that his future is back down in the basement

Seem to recall he scored in that famous 3-1 thrashing of Man Utd as well

We never saw the best of him becuase Moyes played him out wide
