Gerard Deulofeu

This is simply untrue.
A falsehood in every sense of the word.
The first half of last season before Martinez inexplicably dropped him says otherwise as to his quality.

Sorry mate but I dont agree, to be honest I cant decide if looking good in a Martinez side is anything to shout about, or on the other hand being dropped from a Martinez side also means something.

As others have side I also really hope he can make it but I really dont think he will, in fact his best attribute is how good he is with young fans how many seem to adore him, which is great for the club and community but we need first teamers showing real abilty on the park.

11 assists last season and four goals seem to suggest he can hack it at this level I would have thought.
Particularly when he had only 20 starts in all competitions.
His best attribute is his quality of crossing.
You're chatting wham here, he's shown real ability and has shown the ability to shine at Premier League level.
Neither are valid criticisms.

Bloke does loads for homeless in the city, organises free tickets for unemployed, and yet some think we shouldn't applaud his goal. He's shown the city massive respect in his actions off the pitch, an on it by not celebrating the goal. Some arrogant whoppers without a shred of humanity about them it seems.

The boy Gerard has got the gift. We all know that, it's not in question. The only thing in question is his application/motivation - this is where his problem lies. I'd love to come face to face with him and give his a slap across the chops and say "wake up Gerard". The only thing standing in the way of him becoming a top player is himself. That is the most frustrating thing about it

No it's not. I think it's very rare he's lacking in effort.

The problem is that he's a young winger and by nature they are inconsistent. He's not a Messi or Ronaldo, he's going to have plenty of weeks where he frustrates the hell out of the supporters.

Gerard looks great in a Norwich shirt

Bet despite playing a bad game he frustrates opposition too.

Del is ace.

I posted this earlier in the year and I stand by every word of it, got nowhere near the Barca 1st team ( no great shame there) think it was Seville where again he hardly got a game and now at Everton he can't hold down a 1st team spot, my own feeling is he's just not good enough.
You can drew parallels with Manny Fenandez, had a couple of half decent games and people went completely overboard about him, to the point people on here were still saying we should sign him years after he left. I hope this guy proves me wrong but unless he seriously ups his game I'll be surprised if he's here next season.

Manny Fernandes was sick mate :)

65-70 minute impact sub to scare the hell out of tiring defenders. Until or unless he has the stamina to run for 90 minutes

Stamina wasn't an issue the other night - he was just missing sitters straight from the off.

He's never gonna be a player who goes at full tilt for 90. People need to accept that.

He's already looking sharper and more physical under Koeman, which is an improvement, but I don't think he'll ever be at the fitness level of a Bolasie or Lennon who can just keep going - it's a lot to do with natural stamina and some people have more than others.

What he does offer is pace and skill in abundance. The main thing he needs to work on is his finishing. We'd have had two more wins this season (vs Spurs and vs Norwich) had he been able to put the ball in the back of the net.

Some could argue we'd have been into the League Cup final last season if he could finish as well.

There just happend to be someone on the end of them. Do you really think players don't aim for their team mates and just "put it in".

Seriously. Even Sunday league players don't do that.

Yes - watch Bolasie vs Sunderland as a few perfect examples. He gets the ball into an 'area'. That area may be the a square-foot, or it may be the six-yard box. Sometimes, it's more dangerous when a cross is aimed into an area than for a specific player.

Bolasie does do that but frankly it's probably why he was playing for the likes of Bristol for so much of his career. At the very highest level teams don't like giving up possession and the very best players especially those outside Britain don't just hit it into an area. Watch the video of Deulofeu. With each of those crosses he looked up and only crossed when he saw Lukaku moving to make the run.

Hitting it into an area is like lashing a 30 yarder from outside the box. The fans go ohhhhh but the reality is the vast majority of the time it's just wasting possession because the defenders can deal with that all day long.

It's odd that many of the technical aspects of his game have come on leaps and bounds since his loan spell, and yet his stamina seems to be getting worse.

Like Barkley, he could just be someone who takes a long time to play his way into form.
