They put it into an area when the players are in the area. If he's on the sideline after the ball has been slowly moved there via having possession so the strikers are up level with him then yea.
But he doesn't just fire it into an area hoping they will make the run. They are either already there or shaping like they will make the run.
The point I was making so as to avoid this pedantic argument. Valencia was never there and if he was he was completely static surrounded by CBs that made him look a midget.
Even when Bolasie came on and hit it into an area. The fans went ohhhh but there was no one close. Just like a 30 yarder, the first one that flies over the bar everyone goes "ohhhh at least we are shooting" but after the 3rd or 4th people are shouting "stop f-ing shooting".
He is a winger, they dick about and loose the ball more times than they produce. Wingers are frustrating, they always want to take on that extra defender or take a bit more time . But sometimes they do produce. Sometimes he produces.
At the moment I think he is an impact sub, he needs to mature a bit more.
In some respects he is a bit like Ross Barkley, there is a quality footballer in there, we just need to find a way to get it out.

My fear at the moment is while Barkley is getting minutes Deulofeu is in danger of not. Barkley can play rubbish for 2 or 3 games and only then does he get dropped for a half. If Gerry doesn't produce he is dropped for 2 or 3 games and then get's a half.
I'm not really sure what the solution is because we also need to keep winning league games.
So far I think Koeman is handling it well but there's a danger he will be froze out.
That's solely because we don't have another playmaker in the squad, whereas we have around 300 wingers.

I maintain, regardless of where Lukaku is, Deulofeu should be whipping balls into the area. Not Geri's fault if his striker isn't there, but that cross could lead to an own goal, a corner we score from, the ball being cleared and falling to our player on edge of area... or even Lukaku being there and knocking it in. Def do it.

We have more cover for Deulofeu too with Bolasie, Lennon and Mirallas able to play there.
He is a squad player for me right now and a very useful one as he can cause damage when he plays well. I dont see any major issue with bringing him on for the last 30 minutes etc.
Obviously it would be nice if we could get him playing consistently all the time but that's wingers for you. I'd say the only consistent winger we have got is Lennon but his ceiling isnt as high as the others.

I'd love to come face to face with him and give his a slap across the chops and say "wake up Gerard". The only thing standing in the way of him becoming a top player is himself. That is the most frustrating thing about it

Personally I think that Delboy and Bolasie are both 70 minute players. They are all pace and skill but no engine, Bolasie should be the left winger with Mirallas on the right for now, Delboy to come on for Bolasie around 70minute mark. Lennon also provides good cover with more of the 'engine' that del and yannick don't have right now.
needs to be able to hit the target when he shoots, for that matter any footballer who is payed to play the game should hit the target at the very least two out of three shots. Del on Tuesday was guilty more than anyone on Tuesday

I honestly don't see much of a difference in any of them. I can't tell whether Bolasie is better or just flavor of the month due to being a new signing. At the moment I think he's better.
The only thing I know is Deulofeu has by far the highest potential so we should be prioritizing his development.

His best chance he aimed for the far corner and probably would have scored but the defender got back.
At least his shots weren't as powder puff as they normally are but he definitely needs practice.

Love the kid but not the finished article. Kinda seems like a wildcard player for Koeman where he'd probably suit a team like the RS (tempo, pace) if we're talking more game time.
