Ok.

So, Black people are 2.5x more likely to be killed by police than white people in USA.

They are also far more likely to rob, steal, and victimize others. Far greater than 2.5x. (try 6x and 7x etc)

This is the point that everybody misses.

If you have a group that puts their hands in the fire more often, then that group is going to get burnt more often. Who woulda thought hey?

Sure. There are other issues at play. But this doesn't mean every cop in the USA is racist. American cops are brutal full stop.

Black people are also 7x more likely to murder someone in USA.

Blacks are more likely to victimize whites than whites are to victimize blacks.

Blacks are 6x more likely to be robbed and murdered than whites. Because they live in black areas.

Why do people continually ignore the elephant in the room?

There's probably been 4 black people shot today in Chicago alone, by other black men. No one cares about that. BLM don't.

I think alot is down to poverty and social economic factors. The one thing that really annoys me is when people say "white privilege" - I was working at home a few weeks ago and had a morning debate show with an audience similiar to question time on in the background on the tv and this black professor was adamant that even white working class kids had privilege and couldn't accept that white and black kids from poverty/poor backgrounds had equally as tough a start in life in the UK.

As someone who grew up in a 2 bed council house in a drug ridden estate in Liverpool, never went on a family holiday other than Rhyl growing up as my folks couldnt afford it and having saw numerous lads from my year in school end up in the nick for drug/gang offences I found it hilarious that this professor couldn't differentiate between my upbringing and some kid from a middle class family living in a 4 bed detached leady suburb going on vacation every year just because of my skin colour.

I actually took offence that this bloke had made an assumption that I've had it easy in life growing up when nothing could be further than the truth as I've had to work hard to get where I am (which even then is a modest income in comparison to many others out there).

The truth is that most are justified, which means the dumb proclamations about police murdering people with regularity likely isn't true.

I probably shouldn't spend the time to engage this, but here I am.

Your premise: most police [killings] are justified

On a superficial level this is probably true; it seems reasonable to presume that more people are killed by police in a justifiable response to crime or threat of a crime than those who are not.

But this is a thread about unprovoked police violence. The list of men and women (many of whom are persons of color) who are unjustly killed by police is very long. To be justly killed by police presumes that the punishment fits the crime. What was George Floyd's crime? Writing a bad check? Trying to use about $20 in funny money?

Not justified.

What about John Crawford III, shot by a policeman while talking on the phone in a walmart?

Not justified.

What about the 12 year old Tamir Rice, shot by a policeman while playing with a toy gun in a park?

Not justified.

If you need a comprehensive list to understand it, I'm sure we can crowdsource the list, but the point is that the punishment (death) does not fit the crime (and in many cases there is no crime.) These killings are not justified.
