I get a labeled a right wing supporter/surfer of Candice Owens. A woman who is black. And verreauxi said “That’s a new one”.

I said “I don’t see why people connect politics to sport”. Just because I surf shouldn’t mean I have a certain political ideology. I find that prejudice weird.

Yeah, I did meet a vegan yoga instructor in Bulgaria. And the guy was the biggest Conservative you could ever meet. People assumed he was the total opposite in his political views on first appearances.

How you’ve managed to twist this into a correlation of “I have black friends I’m not racist” is actually not impressive at all, just another snide comment to indirectly imply I am racist. Which is tiresome.

Just because one subscribes to the view that the UK and USA are not Institutionally racist countries, does not make them racist. It also does not make them a Conservative.

It’s this type of narrative that has divided the UK and USA, and also divided the left.

I must admit mate that I find it really hard to even understand someone coming to the conclusion that the USA is not institutionally racist.

It very clearly is. The evidence is staggering.

The attention seeking meffs are just after a few retweets or likes on social media with whatever footage they capture.

So I find this is interesting, I heard a piece this morning that not only did democratic attempts to get it removed fail but efforts to get a plaque added details the numbers he put into slavery were also blocked . I stand to be corrected but I think it was Over a hundred Thousand and the numbers killed which was about 9/10,000 . The report claimed the the use of the word children on the plaque was pivotal in those who objected to it .

my point being is that it seems numerous efforts have been made to remove it and even add context and they’ve failed .

now if the police and CPS now want to prosecute it’d be a matter for the courts and the peers of those who toppled it as to whether others think it worthy of punishment.

The language used is quite telling isn't it:

Murder someone in broad daylight in front of others while being filmed but do it in uniform = bad apple

I dunno. To deny that institutional racism exists there, hints that people of colour are more inclined to commit crimes etc. Would say it’s very racist tbh.

That's actually true - but not because of their genes or the colour of their skin, but because they are more socio-economically deprived as an ethic group in general and thus are more likely to be more likely to commit criminal activity.

Exactly, partly through institutional racism. To deny it is to say it’s their choice and fault.

Someone posted that John Oliver video up before - money raised by Saville helped build cancer wards etc, they can be there but honouring him with naming rights etc isn’t right.

They don't want to pretend it didn't happen, though. They want it to be consigned to museums for people to learn from it with the hope that we don't repeat the same mistakes/injustices again.

Sadly, with eastern Europeans being trafficked across Europe and the rapid growth of the middle east, using slave labour, it would appear the lesson hasn't been learned.
