he will, and tho not my cup of tea politically, it would make a lot of sense.

Also, don't storm off in a huff because people didn't react great to your 'two sides at it' post.
Your contributions are always considered but when your party is a clown car stuck in a dumpster fire you should expect some push back.
Besides, Biden and Schumer strike me as the kind of politicians republicans would have loved twenty years ago.
Don't tell me what to do, youngster. You don't get that level of control.

My remarks were pointed at political parties not the participants in the conversation. This was a personal attack.
Level up if you want me around. Bye.

They absolutely did. However, the GOP found that in the marketplace of ideas and culture nationally they were losing. Largely, as Stuart Stevens says, because most of their campaign rhetoric was a lie. So they have consistently since been accelerating down the low road of division and fear - openly. Folks can say it is all Trump's fault but Trump does not exist without the previous 20+ years of GOP politics and when Trump is gone, will the party select someone like Tim Scott or will they choose a guy like Ron DeSantis? Sadly, it seems pretty clear to me at this point which way they will go.

I don’t think there’s any way he would make it through the primaries but Larry Hogan would be an interesting candidate.

Popular, two-term Republican governor in a state that has a very strong Democratic lean. Takes some political skill and talent to do that

yea, perhaps I could have been a little more eloquent with Mez but DeSantis sending a bunch of confused vulnerable asylum seekers (who had entered the country legally) to the vineyard to make a political point, was the last straw for me. Blatant cruelty carries the day for the GOP in Florida, and he's reelected at a canter.
Excusing the actions of Gingrich, Norquist, the Tea Party, McConnell and more led us to this nonsense.
In a weird way, the supreme court got so giddy to end Roe, they angered gen Z.
Maybe there is hope for the kids after all.

Probably haven't seen the last of Charlie Baker either. Hot on the tails of Romney.

Sure. There are a few still seemingly old-skoo, middle-of-the-road GOP members who might be interesting in a different political climate. But my experience is the bulk of the party is so filled with toxic bilge and outright hatred for "duh left" that a mild-mannered seemingly pragmatic politician is DOA in a national race.

What @Ruairi77 said

Both sides-ism that is comparable is part of the problem of what's going on in this country

And comparing a politician with a track record who is recovering from a stroke with a college football star that runs on policies that he clearly doesn't believe in personally is not in good faith. Perhaps my use of the word shameful was in the heat of the moment because, frankly, it struck a nerve.

In addition, that comparison was beneath you, based on the whole on your discourse on this site over the years.

So I'll give you a pass
