I pray that the US doesn't cock this up!
It looks as 'not cocked up' as it could be. Fetterman wins, the early Nevada results suggest Laxalt goes down, we're headed to a runoff in Georgia, the female denier-in-chief (Kari Lake) looks like she's done and Boebert appears likely to be headed for defeat in an absolute stunner. That last is as if voters booted Truss from a relatively safe Parliament seat after a single term.

If you offered me that at the top of the Democrats' prospects a couple months ago, I take it, strike a Heisman pose and run screaming for the exit.

Here's a message in a bottle from an old cranky R. Last night was the beginning of the end of the influence of Donald Trump on the party. It belongs to Ron DeSantis now.

Gen Z is the key. Florida is older voters. Younger voters, especially out West, went overwhelming against the Trump-identifying candidates, and with the exception of Vance, the Trump-anointed candidates are dropping in the Senate races.

The Republicans are a dumpster fire, but don't get cocky. This was not a D win, it was a Trump loss. Worth it for that. It's not like Fetterman is some great candidate. They should be as ashamed of putting him out there as the R's should be for Herschel Walker.

We have a lot of things to sort over here, and precious few answers. I bet that sounds familiar. Don't be surprised to see some movement from Rs to finally make Trump have to answer for his behavior. Happiest man of the night?

Karl Rove. Old Turd Blossom was beaming. Bet you thought you'd never be on his side, did you? The GOP will be measuring the size of the wave they would have had without that boat anchor on their prospects. Best of all, maybe this will lower the temperature a bit.

On both sides, we face the future with hope and anxiety. Good things world events are relatively cal... What?

Mid terms tend to see big swings to the opposition. This one appears to be the smallest swing in the last 3 or 4 cycles. That will calm a lot of nerves with the Democrats I'm sure.
No red wave, more like a red ripple.

If you can put a man on the moon and a pencil and paper is too old fashioned why can't you build a decent voting machine.

If this means the end for the tangerine shitblimp's political ambitions, then I'll take that.
It was a disastrous night for Trump and his merry band of election denying loons, and will probably force the Republicans to FINALLY distance themselves from that element of their support going forward.

That said, let’s not kid ourselves into thinking DeSantis is a step in the right direction. Sure, he’s far less likely to commit actual treason like Trump appears to have done, but he’s right there with Trump on all his anti-immigrant positions, and in some ways (abortion, LGBT rights) he’ll actually probably be even more heinous and cruel than Trump ever was.

Aye Trump is grifting off the maga crowd. DeSantis and his ilk may actually march with them.
